My GSD Mara has been aggressive to my cat Felix. When we got her at 3 months there was a cat she was playing with and now that she is 6 months she tries to bite my cat and barks obsessively. She has a high prey drive but the weird thing is outside when she thinks we are not watching she lets him walk by her and in his cat door but as soon as she see us look at her she tries to attack him. Any thoughts on training her any different? Thanks

Can't help much but think your self as a lucky person...
My Becky just have a death-hate for all cats, home or wild ones...
Have been able to teach Isa and Mic not to hurt the house cats (Wally and Ninja), Mic ignores then and Isa just don't like Wally (he is scared of her and she thinks is cool to make him even more affraid of her) but with Ninja she loves him, they play a lot and she even grooms him, although, and being my bipolar litle girl as she is, sometimes she snapts at him, but Ninja knows best and runs...

When I got the cats the dogs were already a part of the family, but I picked up the cats, covered their heads in order for they not react and be more calm, and let Isa and Mic smell them at will, Mic was always calm and all ok Isa was a bit tough but never hurt then. Becky doesn't even try to smell then... she goes all out and attempts to murder the cat...

But isn't your girl just wanting to play with him? the barking can mean a lot of things beyond agression...

Thats what i thought but once i held my cat in my arms she ran around the corner and tried to bite him but he got away. The thing that scared me was i could hear her jaw snap very loud and she chased him all the way to the fence. Yikes I'll try to introduce them once more with my dad but after that I've done all i could do...

Good luck, in my experiences dogs with high prey drive can be hard to get along with what they consider "prey"... Becky for example seem to want to kill all cats in the world but once she connored a street cat, he turned and faced her, and she didn't atack him just barked a lot until we got there and the cat was able to run away...
