I'm in Charlotte, NC, on my way to Florida. Towing a trailer wouldn't be so bad if there weren't so many idiots on the road. West Virginia was the worst, I found that turn signals somehow don't work when you cross the border into that State, isn't that amazing? Drake has been great, he obviously remembers our journey and knows the routine when we get to a motel for the night. Only problem with that is him jumping up onto and down off of the beds, he hasn't yet figured out that he's got some limitations. When I'm awake, I can control that, but not when I'm sleeping, he always gets off of the bed and lays in front of the door ---> my knight :) I'm getting ready to pull out now and hopefully, will make it to my Aunt's house in Port Saint Lucie before the day is through. According to calculations, I've got about 8 1/2 to go, so I'm hoping I don't lose steam like I did yesterday, traffic was a bitch coming through Charlotte, so I stopped earlier than I would've liked. I don't really care how long it takes, just so we arrive safely. Here's to sunshine and sand and ocean breezes!

Charlotte traffic is always horrible. Thanksgiving weekend is one of the worst times to travel. You'll be going right past me on your way south. Drive safe and drive defensively. Never trust the others will be predictable....lots of distance between you and other vehicles while pulling a trailer. But then you get the idiots that pass you to take up the space in front of you, like playing hopscotch.
If you think Charlotte was bad, fl is even worse.

Oh, toady was much worse, there were two accidents on 95 and I sat in stop-start traffic for hours, only went 5 miles. Got off the road just north of the Georgia border. That is exactly what they do Joan, take up the space I leave in front. Coming out of Charlotte this morning was smooth sailing, until I got off of 77 and hit the on ramp to 95, that's when it got ugly. Pulling a trailer in a 5-speed Jeep Wrangler at 2 mph is no fun, trust me! I'm just glad I'm not on a schedule, I'll lay over here and make the last leg tomorrow. Toughest day so far, hopefully tomorrow will bring normal traffic. At least there's sandy ground and palm trees here though :)

Wish you a safe travel !
I´m somewhat jealous - a lot of rain, wind, and coldness over here...

Having lived in Florida for a number of years, the worst is yet to come.  You are heading into Florida during the dreaded snowbird season.  Hang on and just be prepared for anything.  Being cut off, having someone want your lane despite you being in it, slamming on the brakes for no reason, super slow in the left lane, traffic traveling triple digit speeds by you then suddenly slowing to a rolling road block for no apparent reason.  Oh the list is endless.  I used to live 10 minutes from the beach until the tourists come, then it is more like 60-90 minutes to go 8 miles.  Stay safe and never ever let your car get below half a tank, you may get stuck in traffic and not make it to the next station or you get stuck on the endless bridges and run out.  Plus it will keep your fuel pump cool to have over half a tank.  You can PM me to let me know if I can help with back roads, back roads are your friend lol.

Thank you Susie, I've been taking my time and keeping it as safe as possible! Mindhunt, I may take you up on some back road tips, I LOVE back roads! I've already dealt with one today who was braking for no apparent reason, just in the middle of the left lane all by himself, nobody ahead and just jammed on his brakes! Luckily, he was not close to me and he wasn't in my lane, but it was a head scratcher for sure! During the nightmare of i-95, plenty of people cut me off so I've really had to keep on my toes! I've never towed before, so I'm being really careful and leaving space between me and the car ahead when I can. Most of the time I go under the speed limit which is a whole new experience for me, I'm usually a speed demon. I still say West Virginia was the worst, but I have to be honest and say there were a lot of holiday travelers out there too, so it was just idiot day!

My dart might land on the west coast. It's looking like you get more for the money over there and I've found some nice areas. Is anyone near St. Petersburg and if so, how do you like the area?
