Excuse me? I asked several GSDCA officers and they said it was either not the same person or an error in the catalog. Didn't I say that?

Blitzen, you should stop. There are three segments of the GSD. The working line dogs, the show line dogs and the American show lines. Why would anyone want to or think they can improve one by breeding to the other? If you want a dog with drive, then go working. If you want a show line than go with that. If you want an American show line than follow that direction. Why would anyone try to change what they are and ruin what they have accomplished in their own arena? MONEY. Stop ruining the breed by cashing in on the money.
I would not support the GSDCA until they stop trying to "cash in". That is like trying to make a horse do both English and Western discipline. The gaits are clearly different.
The American Show lines should be required to have hip and elbow certification or they are not "breed worthy". No one with a German bred dog should breed a dog that doesn't at least prove to be good bone. That is a testament to protect the future of the breed. Not about a quick $$$ for stud fee.
No one should be allowed to bred fathers with daughters, brothers to sisters or mothers to sons. The AKC only requires two parents that are AKC registered. That falls very short of protecting the breed but brings in money.
We need to have an International Standard and the AKC needs to be on board to protect the future of the breed.
It is embarrassing that you should support breeding just for the $$$. Every dog used in breeding should show some proof that they are able to produce a better GSD for the future.

Thanks for the great breeding advice, momma. It will help me make more money breeding my ASL's and that's my only goal.

Please define: "better," Momma.

Because it is in the aim of producing a "better" GSD that we have multiple types; more than three types, and each with their own fanatically devoted followers. I'm sure other folks as well would like to hear what would make the GSD "better."

well JC. Carroll what would you call better? Why would you breed a proven German Bred Dog that has titles, and hip and elbow ratings to a dog that may not have hip or elbow ratings? By the standard the parents should be proven. Titled with hip and elbow ratings. I do not believe the ASL do any of that. So it does create a quick buck but where is it going?

BTW many ASL breeders do title their breeding stock in some way and xray hips and elbows.  My female AKC CH has obedience titles, normal hips and elbows, AD, BH, has passed her temperament test and is the recipient of several GSDCA awards. Her sire is an Am bred AKC CH with a SCH3, etc, etc, etc. Don't assume......

My female has her AKC CH, her HT RN TC, is going for her PT this spring, and will hopefully be doing her HSAs late next year or early 2017.  She's also OFA'd.

Her two oldest daughters are on the same path. I am hoping to also do some work with a son.  Daughters are prelim'd, son is getting his soon...although I may just have the owner wait until he's 2.  That's only 8 months away.
