You do realize it is not the parents who are impacted by defunding programs to help children? Poor nutrition impacts life time cognitive development.  SNAP and programs like it are not "lifetime" but are only for a total life time limit of 60 months.  Your tax dollars are funding Israel's total health care costs which includes women's reproductive health care and the most liberal abortions laws of any country.  Proven fact is when children get good nutrition and mothers are educated, the children do better and society as a whole benefits.  That means the next generation will do even better and need less help from the government.

It does take two to make a baby, why should the woman be the only one to pay for birth control? "Uncle Sugar"? Really?

Public Law 91-572 or Title X as it is commonly known funds family planning and education for low income families and is the MOST successful of all government funded programs.  It funds Planned Parenthood as well.  Doesn't make sense to defund it if it works unless you are so rabidly against women's reproductive health care.

GSDoldtimerlady - (see all the efforts to defund family planning in the news and fact check on Politifact.org, Factcheck. org, RHRealitycheck.org) um you have all your medications covered by insurance or ACA right? How about if suddenly medications for diseases like diabetes, heart disease, blood pressure, and cancer are no longer covered because it is now seen as a problem of lifestyle?  What if the sentiment behind no longer funding these medications and others such as pain medications was the public doesn't want to pay for your medications because if you need them, it is your fault for not living a healthier lifestyle therefore you should pay for them.  You do also realize insurance covers Viagra and ED treatment and no one seems to care they are funding someone else's hard on...... Also site your source for government workers watching porn all day and not getting fired?

I am so tired of people blaming the laws that protect employees as the reason for problems in this country because "they can't be fired".  Hell yes they can, it's called progressive discipline.  It does take effort and some balls on the part of supervision.  If an employee does not perform as expected then the supervisor and company/government has the option to begin progressive discipline.  I worked in a union covered Fire Department, we had firefighters fired for not performing as expected via progressive discipline.  Living here in Florida, I have friends who disagreed with the supervisor about mandatory overtime such as (and I worked at that company for a short time and yes they actually did this) if staffing falls below a certain point, you as an employee can be called into work IMMEDIATELY and if you do not show up, then you are subject to termination (you have to provide documentation you were not available to answer the company pager or unable to return immediately and leaving in your car for the airport is not good enough).  Say for instance you are leaving for your long planned and approved vacation and you are called in for mandatory overtime, you don't show up, you get fired.  It has happened (refer to Bradenton Herald and Sarasota Tribune in archives on this issue with Manatee County EMS). So rather than hire enough staff, the county enacted mandatory overtime.  Or you get sick and because of no union, you don't get sick pay.  This is what is going on with my son, he misses a day, he doesn't get paid so he goes in sick because he needs his income and he works three jobs, 1 full time, 2 part time because of the backlash against a living wage and he is a frugal person who does not spend much on himself other than basic needs.

GDDTurner, how so are my "stereotypes" "exaggerated"?  Aren't most pro-birthers against government funded programs that help infancts, children, and mothers?  Cutting education, cutting breakfast and lunch for low/no income children? Cutting Medicaid?

I love people like this who don't have a problem with farm subsidies and corporate welfare but man to help out someone who has mental health issues, down on their luck, racism, born into extreme poverty or any of the other reasons people use these programs is costing them money. They generally don't have problems with illegal wars that cost trillions and lead to human rights abuses, torture and innocent death.

Mindhunt me and you agree on a lot, keep fighting the good fight, doing the right things, delivering the civil/moral message and moving our species to evolve further with compassion, love and understanding and not hate, war and civil dysfunction.

Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up Mindhunt. The same people who will pay 10K for a toilet seat that was sat upon by Tony Romo et al won't give one thin dime to help feed a child. Every day I deal with that hateful attitude her in FL; maybe you do too. Old, overweight white men and their obedient wives who won't donate a cent to the local food bank riding around in 80K cars and 30K golf carts.  American greed is an untreatable cancer.
