All the tea part has done is hijack the Republican party and make people vote democratic, who probably wouldnt, otherwise. IMHO, they are cult like and scary people. There is supposed to be a separation of church and state in this country, yet religious fanatics are taking over. Nooooo thanks!

As a country, the United States comprises 5 percent of the global population, but has experienced 31 percent of public mass shootings across the world between 1966 and 2012, according to new research.

This disproportionate number of mass killings is likely linked to civilian rates of gun ownership.

“The United States, Yemen, Switzerland, Finland and Serbia are ranked as the Top 5 countries in firearms owned per capita, according to the 2007 Small Arms Survey,” said study author Adam Lankford in a statement. “And my study found that all five are ranked in the Top 15 countries in public mass shooters per capita. That is not a coincidence.”

At the same time, cultural and social factors unique to the United States might also play a role, said Lankford, who mined data from the NYPD, the FBI and multiple international sources to create the first qualitative analysis of public mass shootings that ended in four or more deaths.

“In the United States, where many individuals are socialized to assume that they will reach great levels of success and achieve ‘the American Dream,’ there may be particularly high levels of strain among those who encounter blocked goals or have negative social interactions with their peers, coworkers, or bosses,” he said.

Mental illnesses like paranoia, schizophrenia and narcissism may compound the problem,  Lankford said -- and though people in other countries wrestle with the same issues “they may be less likely to indulge in the delusions of grandeur that are common among these offenders in the U.S.”

BLOG: Sandy Hook Shooting Remembered Quietly, Solemnly

An unexpected discovery? Mass shooters in the United States kill fewer people, on average, than shooters in other countries.

This finding seems counterintuitive, but it might be a direct result of having been home to so many large-scale gun massacres: The police in the United States are better trained to respond to mass shootings because there have been so many of them, Lankford said.

Why? Perhaps because the USA is the only civilized country which allows GMOs? In fact, thanks to the government controller, Monsanto, labels stating 'GMO free' is verboten.

Or, could be because the USA dispenses psych drugs like they're candy life savers......and guns are not nessesary to commit murder.

'Police: Oklahoma politician killed by son with wife nearby.'
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A man charged with killing his father, who was Oklahoma's labor commissioner, repeatedly stabbed him in the neck and head at a busy restaurant while his mother tried to stop him, police said Monday.

Christian Costello, 26, was being held on a preliminary first-degree murder charge Monday after the Sunday night killing of his father, Oklahoma Labor Commissioner Mark Costello. The two had had a dispute and agreed to meet at a Braum's fast-food restaurant in northwest Oklahoma City.

"What set him off to attack the commissioner, we still don't know," Oklahoma City police Capt. Paco Balderrama said at a news conference.

The younger Costello, in a plea bargain over a DUI charge, said he was once confined for three months so that he could be treated for mental illness, according to court records obtained by The Associated Press. Last year, he was accused of "outraging public decency" by standing outside of an Oklahoma City elementary school with his pajama pants down.

His father, meanwhile, was considered a rising star in Republican Party politics. Mark Costello took 64 percent of the vote against an incumbent Democrat in 2010, and the telephone software company founder was re-elected last year.

Sunday evening, officers were called to the ice cream and fast-food restaurant after a stabbing was reported. Mark Costello, 59, had been stabbed multiple times in the head and neck and died at a hospital.

Balderrama said Cathy Costello, who was the victim's wife and is suspect's mother, was waiting outside the restaurant while the two men met inside, and that she tried to intervene when the fight spilled into the parking lot. At least one witness knocked Christian Costello off-balance with a vehicle, and others held him down until officers arrived, the police spokesman said.

Gov. Mary Fallin directed that flags be lowered to half-staff for the rest of the week.

"My prayers and deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and staff. Oklahoma has lost a dedicated public servant and a good man," she said in a statement.

In a 2012 case involving driving under the influence of drugs, Christian Costello told the court he had spent three months being treated for mental illness and that he was taking mood stabilizers. He pleaded guilty and received a deferred sentence.

Last October, he was cited for outraging public decency — a misdemeanor — for allegedly appearing outside of the Catholic school with his pajama pants down and wearing one green shoe. The case remains unresolved.

"The defendant was chewing on two bird feathers and what appeared to be dandelions and other weeds," records filed with the court said.

I think the article only dealt with mass murders of 4 or more.

Repeat; Or, could be because the USA dispenses psych drugs like they're candy life savers.

Letting all the mentally ill people out of the hospitals could have something to do with the rise of murders as well.
Look at the guy who killed his wife/girlfriend and cut her head off along with the dog's heads and then cut his arm off and gouged out his own eye.
They should not be out in public and be able to decide to take their meds or not take them.

My bad, I thought the mentally ill couldn't own guns, oh yeah tis America. Home of the free and all.

They let them out cause no one wants to pay to take care of them, taxpayers and all, ya know.

by GSDoldtimerlady on 25 August 2015 - 01:08

Ok, but I don't think that guy used a gun to cut the heads off his gf/wife and heads off the dogs or his own arm but I sure could be wrong about that. lol
Too many loony lefties here for this old gal. Sheesh!

It always falls back to name calling and derogatory comments, should have known it was coming.

my comments had nothing to do with your story and all to do with the link I posted about mass killing, your story had nothing to do with mass murder as defined in the article I posted. And more to do with you deflecting, name calling and picking up your ball and going home.
