One may look up any stats from any source. I just took one at random to copy being as they all had the same numbers. I don't do koolaide.( that's one of those personal implied insults that get interjected to the discussion)
Yes, I can compare accidental gun deaths with vehicle deaths, its apples and apples because innocent lives are lost, lives are wrecked and thousands are maimed by both cars and guns. If you think there's not a problem with car safety, why are there millions of recalls and millions in fines for shabby manufacturing of vehicles...because innocent people are being killed and maimed, that's why. Why are there so many laws and restrictions pertaining to vehicles if they are not a safety concern. Vehicles are used in mass murders, too. Shall they then be banned?

I never said cars are safe, never. In fact I said they aren't safe. Insult? lol, because I said I am not drinking the koolaide, lol. Over the edge isn't one of those implied insults? LMFAO.

Good night.

Didn't you see my apology? You don't accept apologies?

Here is what I was referring to; '....and trying to sell me koolaide.'
I'm deffinately not trying to sell you anything, I don't do koolaide so can't sell any to you:-)
Im only showing you my side and backing my thoughts up with facts. You make comments like; so and so was not on psychotropic meds. I show you that they were indeed on it.
You make unfounded comments such as my gun was illegal because I knew the cop 'should have taken it'. Completely false.
Just out of curiosity, because I can't fathom it...why would a guy 'playing with his winky while driving his car' shoot you? Seems like instead of a gun, he might loose control of the car and kill you with a collision, especially if his reverie is distracting him during his winky twinking.

OMG, misconceptions abound GSD Admin

People with schizophrenia and throw in a little paranoia are ticking time bombs?  Really?  Majority of schizophrenics are not dangerous.  I have worked with them, they are not.  Schizophrenia is a fear based mental disorder caused by trying to cope with chronic terror from a very young age on.  Meds stabilize moods sometimes but the side effects of the medications are horrendous and the stabilization is temporary and meds need to be adjusted constantly.  I don't blame them for wanting to discontinue the medications.

Correlation does not mean causation.  Correlation is when two or more things/events tend to occur closely together and might be associated with each other, but are not necessarily connected by a cause and effect relationship.   For instance, sick people have gone outside without a hat on, therefor going outside without a hat must cause people to get sick.  When in reality going outside without a hat on has nothing to do with getting sick, sickness is caused by germs and a hat will not prevent germs from infecting a person.  Causation is where one thing or event directly causes another thing or event.  For instance, a person steps on a sharp nail and their foot begins to bleed, therefor the sharp nail caused the foot to bleed.

Far too often those who have an agenda and don't care about facts will use logical fallacies to make their point.  People who have guns kill other people, therefor guns make people kill other people, if guns didn't exist, people would not kill other people.   That kind of ridiculous logical fallacy.

Funny the ones I worked with at the state institution were very dangerous, most had 2 staff assigned to them, some 3, you are Riight I have misconceptions but I can only go off my experiences. Not yours.

Not saying there are not dangerous people with schizophrenia out there but they are few.  I can't say how yours are treated (I am assuming a dog person would treat all with respect and dignity so I am not including you in the question of treatment) but we all know treatment is a huge factor in functioning.

I apologize for my "misconception" of your experience with people who have schizophrenia lol. Red Smile

These people were pretty dangerous and most probably died in that hell hole. I know a little of me died while working there.

Other institutions in this country suck, as well. I worked in a nursing home in early eighties.
A lady who was not ambulatory and who could not speak, managed to get my attention one morning when a got to work. She was laying in a soaking wet bed, was unable to get out of the urine. The nurse in charge told me to leave her for last ( the patient couldn't make noise or complain) and I was supposed to start with the patients who could speak and were able to communicate with visitors...I could not leave the lady who was in distress and silently asking me to help her. I changed her sheets and cleaned her up. I got fired for that, but my biggest concern was what was going to happen to that lady. Bed sores on her back were ignored, same as her needs to afford a degree of comfort and dignity.

Morning Joan - please quit twisting my words. I said "But I do not assume some ass wipe has a gun and while playing with his winky he accidentally shoots me."  The winky part of it is sarcasm and I didn't say while he/she was driving. What I had in mind was this -  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/21/man-accidentally-fires-gun-in-walmart-bathroom_n_1290733.html

And there is this  -  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/27/walmart-shooting-accident-woman-injured_n_5401191.html

I also remember reading something about a police officer involved in a bathroom accidental shooting. Here we go and they covered it up, lol, go figure.  http://khon2.com/2014/09/10/accidental-shooting-in-target-bathroom-never-made-public-by-hpd/

Want more stories of responsible people accidentally shooting their guns because there are literally thousands on the net. What about those poor mother or fathers who are responsible, hard working, loving and dedicated to their families who accidentally shoot a loved one - a child, a wife. There are at least dozens of those on the net and probably thousands. So, your safety and those around you are not assured by you being a responsible gun owner. And yes accidents happen BUT you and millions of other CLAIM you own a gun for safety. I don't necessarily buy a car for the sole purpose or the main purpose of my safety. But over and over you and others have said it is for your safety - I sure hope you never accidentally shoot a loved one or innocent for your safety. Seems a tad selfish to me.

Good morning. We were talking about driving cars, so automatic to figure you were talking about a guy in a car. Even in the context you intended, its pretty absured and I found it funny.
Anyway, you want to stretch this to all people being shot, that's not in the context of the mass shooters we were discussing and what causes people to do mass killings.
If you want talk about people being killed by guns, then include people being killed by means other than guns...because murder doesn't require a gun.
This is depressing talking about perverted people committing murder.
