I have a litter of pups that is mixed GSD and Mal and want to register the litter on pedigreedatabase. Both parents are registered under the respective breed list. Can someone assist me with registering a litter when parents are two different breeds?

Regards,

Richard

Sory to tell you but I don't think you can. Simply because those dogs are not pure... They are not german shepherd they are not malinois...

We don't yet have a category for dogs that don't fit in a category available from the breed list on PD or for dogs that fit in more than one category.

I would place them in Malinois with the word Outcross in the title area and re-enter a copy of the GSD in Malinois with (German Shepherd Dog) after the name, or, the other way around. I will merge them for you if you want.

This is what I do for Dutch shepherd/Malinois/ all the belgians, Spitz/Pomeranian, White/GSD, Rough coliie/Smotth Collie and many more.

I don't think mixed breeds should be included in a PEDIGREE database. It should just include dogs and breeds that an offical pedigree is available for. Does AKC, SV or any other registy give out pedigrees for mixed breeds?

GSD Admin,

I respectfully disagree.

All KNPV lined Dutchies and Mals are mixed, go back and there are Mastiffs, Great Danes, Pit Bulls, etc in the wood pile. Yet they are on the site.

I do think done properly, Mal/GSD crosses do produce very usable dogs.

I would for sure have a problem if the OP has created some pointless "designer" breed and wanted them listed here, but I feel that is not the case.

Then those dogs should be listed as such. And being there is no way to do that at this time, then I wouldn't suggest they be listed under a breed they are not.

I am not talking the usability of a dog. So, we should allow dogs some find usable but the rest, nope. I think if you open up this database to any mixed breeds, you can't very well tell others no.

Next thing to be listed is a shepadoodle - yay.

I am talking only registered dogs belong here otherwise we are opening a huge can of worms. A can of worms I am not willing to delve into.

Lineage - please tell me what breed registries give out litter pedigrees when 2 dogs are not of the same breed?

I asked Oli about this and here is what he had to say. Lineage please quit merging mixed breed dogs.

"No,

Those are clearly not pedigreed dogs.  Maybe in the future I will create a mixed breed web website.

Oli"

I have to agree with Admin. If we start allowing mixes on here, how long will it be until we have those "Morkie" or "Schnoodle" or "'doodle" breeders on here, claiming what they are doing is right?
