Last year at NASS Rocco placed V8, with 19 dogs ahead of him (12 VA) in a class of 45.  This year he makes VA 1.  Does anyone else find this encouraging for entering next season's Sieger Shows?  To me, the possibilities are exciting :)

Excellent observation. Notice this year he had what has been called an excellent group. No doubt his group helped him rise above the very well placed dog from the German Sieger show. Rocco and other dogs like him need support from people who want to be involved and want to show. The best offspring from the up and coming males need to go to show homes. All of the breeders I know are willing to get the best offspring from their males to those that will show them. It's the best opportunity for new people to get involved in the GSD community. It's win/win for everyone. People get a good puppy, father moves up in the ratings as we see here.

*PROGENY*....GOOD PROGENY...makes all the difference........not the "amount" of progeny.
A good dog produces "better" than themselves......that is what to look for....and Rocco has produced some very nice progeny.

i was there at the NASS and i dont really like Rocco , but i will say  his off spring were not bad , but he was no my fav progency group , i was very impressed with Kloud group. and if i had to pick, i liked VA7 and VA8 way better, and everyone will like something else that just what i liked the best  .
i will admit that Rocco is  better temp than most mittelwest dogs i have seen.

also for breeding reason, i would not breed to the top  VA dog as most of the time the lower placing dogs are much better in my opinon . i have a feeling you  go to show and just have fun with it  as i still think money is involved with placing and yes top German handlers too.
i look more at the protection than the movement any way.

i think under the right Judge yes you can get a good placement.

Rocco is one of the top producer here in USA, and he is a good looking dog too. I have always loved his looks and his protection work. I am glad that he got what he deserves this NASS..

I would breed to Rocco in a heartbeat!! He HAS the bloodlines that are known to produce work! He has a VA body and movement, whether he is your type or not... He is producing. Take note also, that Kevin Nance's dog Vandal Mittelwest has very similar lines and look what all he has achieved!!

I agree with djc. I was very impressed by him last year, and am considering breeding to him this upcoming year. :-)

its funny that Chaina that you say you look more at the protection then you do anything.. That's sad for the bred.. One of the VA dogs you love, fel off the sleeve more then once.. What does that say ?
