I thought this was interesting, this dog, Rex Fischer, http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=467396 ,
was linebred on this dog, Audifax von Grafrath.

And then, this dog with the reverse mask is a descendent, a grandson....http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/dog.html?id=466933

And that is why I think there is a correlation to the reverse mask and the brindle.

I can totally believe it!  Just this morning looking at the "History" dogs featured, was this one,

And, if one follows the pedigree, one also finds if one follows back to the pedigree of Opehia, through Lucie, one will find Audifax Grafath way in the back.

Note that 2 littermates are white. And the "black and tan" female came from a "breeder" who also bred mastiffs.

Bee. I like that boy you posted. That is Lloyd Brackett's breeding.

vonissk,
Now, that is interesting! You knew about this dog. I do like this new History feature. I find myself intrigued by what pops up, all the time. LOL

Thanks Bee. I love it that you are finding all these old pics and posting them. I am learning a lot from them, too. As far as Lloyd Brackett goes, I have an original copy of Planned Breeding and you can have everything here but that. LOL. Seriously I always liked him and he made genetics; both linebreeding and inbreeding come alive for me. His daughter was named Virginia--can't think of her last name but she was famous for her blacks--Cosalta was her kennel name. I think that dog I commented on is just stunning--a little more color in the chest then I would like but what the hell, that would be the very least of a person's worries. LOL

My comment on that brindle puppy--well let's just say I liked Christine's comment and leave it at that................

I am sorry but the puppy picture just posted from the FB page... is not a pure bred puppy.  Look at the rest of the litter posted on FB.  I HIGHLY suspect someone else got to mom and the owner (who seems very naive and does not seem to know much about GSDs/breeding) does not realize it.  I HOPE the person does DNA testing and acts responsibly here.  I do not beleive for one moment that this is a brindle pure bred puppy.  The other puppies do not look pure bred either.

I agree it's not a purebred puppy. It's obvious to me now and is going to be more obvious as the dog grows..........I know nothing about the FB page or any of that--I just know what purebred GSD puppies look like.........

Kelly, that dog you posted looks (to me) to have a very Dutch head.
