Hi guys,

My 2 year and 4 month old GSD mated May 7, 9, and 11 so is ending week 7 today.

She didn't go through morning sickness. She did become ravenous a  week post mating which lasted until week 5. Then she became a big pickier.

Palpation detected no pups but we did that at day 33, somewhat late in the palpation window so the vet said  then that she could still be pregnant.

Size-wise, there is a bit of growth in terms of I don't see her ribs anymore. But nothing drastic.

I know normally bitches increase in size around week 6 onwards.
But is there a chance that she's still pregnant?

We mated her the heat before this but didn't conceive, so I was left with unused aspirator, whelp box, rectal digital thermometer, and other supplies LOL.

Thanks

Have her xrayed.

I would take her and get an ultrasound and see if she is pregnant..

4 month old mating?  Isn't this a bit young for either sex?

I am very new to the breeding concept, so I am genuinely asking these questions (no sarcasm is intended).

I think she meant the dog is 28 months old...at least I hope so!

So sorry.  My mistake.  I thought you were saying 1 dog was 2 years and the other was 4 months.

i have a female that does not start to show till the 8th week. if she is a big girl , she will hide them well like mine. it does sound like she is pregant from, what you are telling, no two females will act the same,so i would not worry ,my  girl act alot like yours. yes you can do an unltrasound or just wait and see if you get pups. how  is the hair loss around the nipples or milk starting, these a few signs to look for. at 8 weeks you should also start to see movement, feel her tummy and see if you feel pups.

mine never showed one bit even when she was whelping but like trixx said at 8 weeks we could feel movement but she was carrying the puppys up in her rib cage. she had 10

For me, that was the coolest thing about the pregnancy, getting to see the puppies move in Rose's belly.  Look behind the ribs when she is laying down.

That is actually how I was able to tell how many puppies were left during the welping.  I would gently touch in this area to see if there was any more movement.  1st puppy came out at about 4 am and the last one was born at 10:30 pm.  Long day.
