Like Michele I have a perma-pup (female) aged 7, still the most crazy and playful ever.........

Seriously though, in shows the puppy classes are up to 12 months, then we have very young dogs (12-18 months) and young dogs (18-24 months), then adults 2 years and over......

Depends how you define adulthood I suppose.  Don't ever consider leaving a 7 month old male pup with a female in heat.......(yes, it happened to someone I know).

What do you think Royal1? My experience is about 2.5 years my dogs certainly seem more adult to me and I have noticed changes about this time, both in appearance and behaviour.  So I can understand why some people say 3 years old. What have you found with your dogs?

PS I just have to say it and forgive me if I'm wrong but you (OP - Royal1 off to the Windsor show etc etc etc my Dad hates dogs etc) sound like Hamza. If so, could you just stick to one ID and get on with it rather than being multiple users. I'm in a bad mood so I can't be bothered not saying what I think.

I hope this following information clarifies the situation; after the first year of life, a dog is equivalent to sixteen human years. After two years, they are equivalent to a 24 year old, at three years a 30 year old, and each year after, add 5 human years to determine a dog's age.

We are looking at 1 year old German Shepherd is equal to 16 year old human.
So at 18 months German Shepherd is equal to 20 year old human.
At 2 year old German Shepherd is equal to 24 year old human.
At 3 year old German Shepherd is equal to 30 year old human.
And at 4 year old German Shepherd is equal to 35 year old human.
And at 5 year old German Shepherd is equal to 40 year old human.
And so on......

And here is also helpful informantion as well: www.klgsd.com/German%20Shepherd%20First%20Two%20Years.htm

Edit: My dogs are different :) LOL The female GSD that I have is (smart) smarter then my male GSD,
