Anyone know of any that would be open to a someone with little experience and a gsd that is 7 months old?   I have helped my sister a little when she works with her dog, but she is a few hours south of me.  I have checked out some of the websites in Michigan but they seem outdated.

Or, maybe I should go with a private trainer until I have a better handle on the beginning steps.  any advice?

Thanks,

Sam

I also live in Michigan and am taking an Intro type of class to see if I have a real interest, and to give me some beginning foundation if I do decide to join a club.  The trainer is John Evans and I am so totally impressed with how in tune he seems with my 5 month old puppy.  He used to be with O.G. club but I think he is doing mainly private lessons now.  Best thing of all, he doesn't make me feel like a newb and spends as much time training me as he does the dog   LOL

I don't think Tom Quakas club has a helper?  Last time I went out was a long time ago, but not sure if
that has changed.
They are also in Lower michigan that may be too far for you.

NISC does have a helper now. We have moved the club to Edwardsburg MI..If you would like to call Tom he would give you the run down..Thanks   Clark Niemitalo

Newer club, working on paperwork to join the WDA and USA.  Took a while to get things started but now it's taking off.  We train Fridays and sometimes Sundays and/or Wed. at different locations, but it may change for fall/winter (we have people who drive 2 hours from each direction).  We're getting our "real" field setup, all the permanent blinds are constructed and setup, I think we are going to level the field a bit more.  We also have an indoor building which is great for winter/after dark/90+ degree heat.  We have a lot of young dogs but everyone is committed to the sport.  Right now we have a few dogs prepping for trials (SchH1 dog for 2 and 3, SchH 2 dog for 3, and SchH3 dog for more advanced competitions).

I think there's also a few other great clubs not necessarily affiliated with WDA or USA.

Looking for a Sch. group somewhere around Grand Rapids. We have a male we have trained in French Ring and was wondering if we could convert , a female that has just started the bite work, and a 9 week old pup we would like to get started. All have great drive. does anyone know of a group in our area? I am basically looking for one I could join for trials or even if I could join just to trail- new to the Sch scene. Please let me know. Thanks
