I don't know Larry and Sandy personally but I remember seeing Sandy compete in the '86 Nationals in Sacramento... with an AROLSER HOLZ dog! If Horst hadn't been so pleased with how Sandy did with that dog I might never have been blessed with my beloved Pallo. Great to learn ya'll are still well and posting here. This list needs more people with your experience and super rep! I hope we meet someday in the not too distant future. BTW- I lowered the stud fee for my male and furnished a guest room here in the house when the economy tanked and gas prices went through the roof to help people who have to travel more than a few hours to get here. Not everybody who owns a fine female can plunk down a couple weeks' pay to get to a dog that suits that female, certainly not me! LOL. Its not like it costs me a fortune to make a normal breeding. I gave up making a profit on stud fees years ago. I brought my studs in primarily for my own breeding program. Anything else is gravy, service to the breed on the happy occasions somebody brings a nice female to their courts.. SS

Yes, much like Mollly said. I have a stud. I consider him a pretty nice stud, 12 X schh3 , 10X at Regional and National level. I think he is handsome. :) Although I handled him myself in the show rings and his is G KKL2.  Hips OFA, Elbows Normal. I know what he produces, and have been very pleased with it.

Yep, "to approved females" only. Ideally yes, they are titled, and breed surveyed, with excellent temperament, good physical health, certified hips and elbows, and a pedigree that compliments Hawk's. I have no problem if the female meets the above criteria but instead meets the challenges of agility or compettion obedience or SAR.

I never charge boarding fees, have welcomed owners who must travel far to stay in my home, have driven many hours to meet owners 1/2 way to get the bitch here in time without making them do a 14 hour round trip.

Back to the "approved" part.... I have on rare occasional allowed Hawk to be bred to an untilted female, but, the female must have super temperament, and equally important, the owner must take this seriously, not be in it only to make a few bucks, really care about where the puppies and provide a contract. I believe some people are going to breed their dog no matter what anyone says. I think best to a good dog, with a proven record, then the neighbors dog. If they are serious and have the intention of producing a nice puppies they can be proud of, after much talking and interviewing, I have on occasion agreed. I follow my gut with these things, and so far have not been disappointed.

Someone looking to breed multiple untilted females, with only price and color in mind, would not get a return phone call from me.

for US readers / AKC registration

DIY semen collection done with both dogs present, and the bitch immediately inseminated can be AKC registered.  Any collection for chilling or freezing of semen has to be done by a vet, and a vet must do the insemination in order to AKC register the litter. (special paperwork to submit with vets' signatures)

When I ship semen it ONLY goes to another vet . I don't want my dogs' semen going to a private home, to somebody I don't even know. I will meet a breeder part-way when possible. Actually, its pretty fun having company here for a visit. Lots of chance for fun conversation, comparing war stories between breedings. Last time Czakia came with her way neat daughter. I wish they could have stayed longer. SS :-D

It is fun shelley!!! Although one thing I did learn...is never have the "husband" bring the female for the wife, that is if it is the wife that is into dogs...because then the husbands do wayyyy much comparing of notes and "support group talk" about how many dogs, too much money, too much time, etc....
