I agree withBobo....Vom Rheinland is one of the top! Pia has a lot of accomplishments with her program.  I am a little biased because I have one of her dogs (Iron Vom Rheinland).  She is very knowledgeable and I dont thik I have ever heard of her boasting about herself...just others talking about her!  That speaks alot about her and her program.  My next dog will definately be from Pia.

At what stage are you looking for V rated conformation.  Club Shows, Regionals, Sieger??

There are many good working line kennels in U.S., if you have to use the term "best" then you have to define the criteria for evaluation.  Keep in mind, even with best kennels, all breedings are not the same.  Also, the number of breedings, a breeder does to produce the "famous dog" should be kept in mind.

just to add something to the list of questions to determine best.

number of dogs on podium?   number of dogs being shown and titled?  how does one evaluate the strength of the dogs being produced?

if one is to look at the winners from championships here in the US,  a vast majority of those dogs were/are imports.  does a kennel who produces a single national champion get more credit than  one who has never produced a champion but does have many titled dog out of several litters?

 to produce a national champion you have to have a good dog..  and the right trainer/handler..    the dog can't do it on his own..  and a great dog with a not so great trainer will probably never make the podium.

Who the hell knows? I don't think stats like that are kept anywhere, no percentages, nothing. When you take gray dogs out of the picture, you get a very skewed perspective.

Jody, This is so correct I have many titled dogs from my breedings but those are the lucky ones who went  to trainers. Thor is the alternate for this years WUSV team for the US breed right here before Zidane but in most homes would have just been a nice dog with super temperament and great drives. This limits us over here the good trainers we have for sure but fewer in numbers than Europe. Many great working line kennels in the US you do not have to go to Europe to find a good dog but finding the trainers. USA needs to step up and promote our sport and we need to elect Randall Hoadley as the new President of USA some new blood is needed there too instead of the  good ole boy system in place.  Too much kennel blindness with breeders that never help each other too much talking and down playing each kennels  dogs.ninety percent of the time.  Too much drama in the US.

I also have a dog from my breeding on the WUSV team..  Jai v Olgameister..  if he wasn't with Deb.. he also would be just a nice dog..   Jai was bred by Deb and myself.. ..   I own the dam.. she owns the sire..

Jody, Right when you have a good dog that you know can do it all getting the trainers is the hard thing to do. I know your dog all I can say is awsome congradulations on your dog. We have a great team this year.

If I ever buy another GSD (probably not unless I am helping a friend) the first place I will go is Chris at Vom Grim Orkie.

His top brood bitch is V-rated. He has not been breeding long, his first litter was only one pup and his second are just turning two now.

Just my opinion, but, I don't think that you are going to find a ton of V-rated in conformation working line dogs here in the U.S. or anywhere else. Most working line people don't care too much about running their Schutzhund trained dogs around in a circle while yelling the dog's name.

But,

I would take a look at kennels here that have dogs from Grafental in Germany. They are an old DDR kennel, but, they produce a lot of V-rated dogs in conformation. I haven't heard of anyone complaining about their Grafental dogs either. They all appear to have great temperament.
