ERH, Amen brother!

I've seen a lot of AKC line GSD's, Charlie, and amazingly enough I have not been turned into a pillar salt for looking at them LOL. None I recall have had the banana back we are talking about, the 100% Am lines have very flat backs and a lot of slope, probably more than most of us would consider correct. A banana back? Nope, don't think we can lay that on the American breeders; the German showline people should get all the credit for that one I think LOL. I've seen the term a number of times along with - arch, roach, boomerang, all addressing the same thing. Some like it, some dont; some justify it as being correct, some don't. Personally, I find it ugly and would not want to own a GSD with one, but will bow to those of you who like it and think it's correct. I'm just a pet owner, what do I know? Don't mind seeing it on a sighthound, but it totally grosses me out on a GSD and spoils the dog's total look. If you only study working lines, you probably wouldn't know the term banana back. See what you're missing by not checking out those showlines now and again, Charlie?

Blit, I have a bad day, therefor I amd going to blame EVERYTHING on American breeders, the weather, gas prices, our president being a schmuck and last but not least I blame the American breeders for Anja shitting in my bed room closet at 2 am this past morning.....lol. How do you like that!.........Do you beleive I found the directions I had from several years ago when I went to MD and stopped out by you on the way home and got the blankets I was telling you guys about.

by D.H. on 03 December 2004 - 03:12

you need to teach Anja the difference between BR closet and water closet ;)

by Blitzen on 03 December 2004 - 03:12

And I'm sure those fun loving, gratious American breeders will accept all the blame with grace and be thankful for all the attention lavished them on a predominately import lovers list LOL. Blitz has done the same and I blamed it on the breeder of my first GSD, one of the bottom feeders who had the nerve to combine imported lines with American ones. Actually, I think those people are the very worst and the root of all problems in today's GSD. Don't you agree? Have a good one...

by Charlie Ivory on 03 December 2004 - 03:12

Yeah d,we had a talk about that right after I stepped in it.I'm thinking whatever the hell langauge this dog knows she understood everything we discussed, it should not happen again

by Charlie Ivory on 03 December 2004 - 03:12

Blitz, I can't agree with that..lol.

by ERH on 03 December 2004 - 04:12

This should not be a discussion on whoever likes this or who likes that - working line or showline. And not forgetting the AKC. We all have the same common standard to work and do our breeding towards. The checklist should for every lover of the GSD be: 1: Good menthal and fysical health. A working line GSD is not a guarentee for a FUNCTIONAL mentality. 2: All that has to do with a healty and practical movement. Neither to little or to much angulation is good. A completly flat back is not good for a GSD neither (the AKC has a responsebility to follow the standard as anyone else). 3: Exterior. Posisioning of ears, colour etc.

by Blitzen on 03 December 2004 - 04:12

You're not much fun tonight, Charlie LOL.
