Gaby, Do you realize this breed is bold tons of drive and can get very nastey. they orginated from Japan and have or are prone to eye and hip displaisa problems. they require daily brushing and lots of daily care for looks and u will have tons of hair in your home. They are highly bold, never fearful of most anything and u being from Germany I cannot place one in your home??? Maybe just me but to me this is not a pretty dog at all compared to the West German Shepherds of show and Work mix. ?? Sorry, just my personal opinion. thank you wildthing, i already own an american akita, you are right it's lots of work and lots of prushing, but not more then my show gsd's. the character is just fine, very sweet. i know the males can get realy nasty, but i'm experienced with dogtraining. my family breeds and trains shepherds since almost 40 years. i grew up with dogs, so there is no problem for me to read a dogs mind. anyways, thank you for carring for me, best regards gaby

Hey Gaby, I am with wildthing on the Akita personality. But it sounds like you have experience with the breed. - I really do not know much about the Akita - and please check out this breeder for your self - my brother was very pleased, but everyone has different standards. And I do not know this breeder personally. I have owned GSD's all of my childhood and adulthood - I would not own another breed.
