Yellowrose,

I have no personal beef with you at all (except you're Texan and I'm from Arkansas :)). I am just having a real hard time getting a read on your position.  In the other thread you addressed everything but the fact that he was tied on a choke collar and I still can't figure out what that was all about. As far as this thread is concerned, I did miss that you were having an inside joke with GARD.

I didn't overreact.  Without the information that it was an inside joke I think I reacted appropriately.  I have a great deal of respect for GARD's posts and the way he has conducted himself throughout all of this.

I may have misinterpreted your thread but I certainly have not advocated for anything else but finding the truth and the facts.

And the line "you owe me an apology, sir" is a good one.  Like a line from the miniseries "North and South". You Texans have a flair for the dramatic. Us Arkansans have a flair for the capricious.  I guess it was inevitable that a Razorback and an Aggie would have to bump heads eventually. For the honor of my people I cannot apologize to an Aggie. :)

And I do declare I've nevah been so insulted in all mah days. I am no gentleman, I am a lady.  At least until I git riled up. (If you have other information please don't tell my husband!)

Dawg

PS-c'mon what's your take on the choke collar?

I figured that. No problem. BTW-I read this and replied to it while you were answering the other one so didn't know you had responded to the choke collar thread.

Oh, and also, I didn't swear AT you I swore TO you. Swearing at you would have been along the lines of, "You f*(&^ing pieces of rodent *&^# laying on the bottom of a hawgs (*&(*. You aughtta be *&&#$@ up a (**^$# while your (&&*($ drops on a cactus paddle." More or less. You get the idea.

sorry about the gender.....and Im not an aggie....they are the ones that cant read road signs in Texas and think that water runs uphill  and I have a gorgeous shepherd in Arkansas.....Her name is Tia and she is out of Pirol v Enclavehof and Jada v Steffenhaus breeding.... when they came to me, I chided them heavily about WIllie and did they vote for him for president and they said Yes and I went , Oh thanks, and they said "now do you want to know why"   "Yes," I said, very curious at this point. "We voted for him to get him out of Arkansas'' Has a good laugh over that.....He's a retired football coach and I cant remember what town but their prefix on phone is 501..They have trained her well and are proud of her.....I also sold another grown female to a trainer in Arkansas, who moved there from Texas and sold his niece a sable male who ended up sire of a dog on our database for sale, and I answered the black male pup ad only to find out it was one of my own dogs pup...surprise for me....

Being I worked right along side of pd and so in galveston and Houston in the dog program and one of their trainers stole my stud that was my foundation of my line, I know all to well what up.....I was so mad that Turbyville, the ast. da . didnt want to prosecute this yaahoo, who was the trainer for Harris Co. Pct 4, and they fired him on the spot, when I uncovered his scam and misrepresentation of even who he was, and the ast da wanted to know , what is so wrong with this man and this case and why do all of you get so upset over dog papers and a missing male german shepherd.....I screamed at him the day of the trial,in a little room , and outside the head of Pct 4;s investigator who already had charges also with him, lies to their dept, was ready for trial, and the officers , took the breeder involved with part of his scam, who wouldnt talk, and finally got her to own up to what was up, challenged me as to why we were doing this, and I told him after he slung his book at me with all the proof in it, and papers, make me an officer of the court , =badge me and I will try this case,....I slung the book back down the table, and when it was all over and convicted with three (3) felonies on him , he introduced me to the court and said    This woman stuck to her guns, and I could not figure out why all these people were so upset over papers on dogs and a stud missing...Its like buying a cadillac auto with a ford engine in it...,you want what you paid for with no misrepresentation..Dogs are like a high priced auto, what you pay for had better be what you get....I now understand after listening to this case and the lies that were told by the convicted person, why all these people put this before my court to trial.....and he thanked me publicly for persueing it....

darn rogue cops, serving warrants and shooting dogs that bite them. sheesh. it's ridiculous. they're just supposed to call and tell the person to come turn themselves in on the honor system. and if they get bit, they're supposed to rub some dirt on it and walk it off.

barbaric! sadistic! I hate Walmart!

Someone brags about shooting hundreds of animals, he's a hunter.

Someone shoots a dog after he's bitten by the animal while trying to serve a warrant, he's a psycopath rogue sadistic barbaric maniac.

Seems odd

Some things to ponder.

First of all I presently own a business and always contribute to the local and State Police. I respect and like the Police. I worked for 30 years for one of the largest companies in this country and did analyzing. One of my hobbies is target shooting; I make my own ammo and am very familiar with guns.

  1. I live in a city of about 175,000 people. Have lived at the same address for 32 years. I do not recall one incident of a Police officer shooting a dog. This guy apparently has shot three different dogs.
  2. I've had German Shepherd Dogs for 40 years. When someone knocks on the door or rings the door bell they BARK. Even two of my tail wagers barked. I firmly believe this dog barked if the officer went to one of the other doors prior to going to the rear door.
  3. Supposedly this was a bench warrant, not a felony warrant. So we are dealing with someone not appearing in court on something most likely not a serious crime. Is it NORMAL procedure to go to three different doors on a bench warrant?
  4. The shooting, a 357 is a very powerful revolver. I believe they hold 6 rounds. They have a cylinder like the cowboys guns had, only the cylinder can be moved to one side and all spent casings ejected at once, a speed load can be used and all six chambers refilled at the same time. It does however take longer than reloading a semi-automatic pistol where you simply release the clip, pop a new clip in and hit the slide release. From what has been posted the officer had no bleeding bite marks. It appears to me that seven shots was excessive, he had to reload and after six shots if the dog was still a threat I believe he would have bitten the officer before he could have reloaded a revolver.
  5. The dog was on a run or tied leash, apparently following the law.
  6. Police Officers have their little code of protection where they stick up for each other. So do doctors etc. etc. etc.
  7. Based on the information that is presently available this officers actions in my opinion don't pass the Smell Test.

I'm not trying to piss off the Police Officers who post here. I'm not condemning the officer involved. I'm simply implying this incident should be fully investigated by some neutral party, not only the Police Department's Internal Affairs. Three seperate Dogs shot by one Officer is what really jumps out as not normal, the investigation should include the other two shootings incidents as well.

Seriously is the epitome of everything wrong with the police - and I say this as a someone who spent almost 10 years in law enforcement before changing careers. Seriously, cops like you make me sick.  Last rime I checked all police departments were all-volunteer forces - no one ASKED you to be cop, in fact you went though a rigorous process to receive the privilege to have your job.  And too bad if you don't feel you get the regard you deserve, maybe you should try a new career - otherwise quite bitching.  You chose to be a cop, you choose to stay now for what ever reason, lifestyle, retirement, too dumb to get a job doing anything else - whatever, it is your problem.  Just don't expect any thanks or respect from me, you get a pay check to do what you CHOSE to do and continue to choose doing.  That's all the thanks any of us deserve.  You think you are under appreciated get a real job and find out how much the general public appreciates your contributions to society.  You are walking a very fine line my friend, cops who extol your positions are the same ones who typically end up breaking laws, breaking trust, and violating their oaths - all because the people they swore to serve and protect "don't deserve their efforts."

The only reason why there's anthing to think this same officer has shot 3 dogs, is the hearsay from the one person. That's it....that's it on ALL OF IT.......but it's being accepted as fact here by an anti-police lynchmob bunch of crap.

I've read comments like:

I don't like cops overall, why do they have haircuts like whatever, walmart security guards, hope he gets raped, kill a member of his family, rogue, sadistic, needs punished/fired/sued, get even, police state, etc.etc. .......then everyone reminds me to "show class" when I get mad and tell them their acting like idiots. what the hell ever. I'm mad and I'm gonna speak my mind!

Different areas have vastly different problems. Just because something is not the norm in your area, doesn't mean it isn't the norm in some other cops beat. I have seen several aggressive dogs that will not bark, but will lash out when someone gets within range. There's no proof whatsoever that this dog barked or the officer even knew he was there for that matter. There's also no proof the dog was even tied up, the rope could have broke or even been added to the photo to support a point. A warrant is a warrant is a warrant. I cannot believe how many people are arguing that a cop isn't supposed to try and serve a warrant on someone wanted by the law! There are .357's that come with 7 rounds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%26W_Model_686  , you have no proof the dog was on a leash and you have no idea what the law is there, and you're damn right we stick up for each other es[ecially when it comes to stupid shit like this.

This is absurd.
