What do you feed your dogs? - Page 1

I’m very curious to know which brand of dog food you all use. Definitely a large selection to choose from.

I have tried to narrow it down to "Organic" kibble. Have found Petcurean "Gather" along with The Honest Kitchen mixed into kibble for PM feeding. AM feeding kibble only. So far, so good. Good luck for you and your dog Nan

I am surprised that people are not interested in this topic. What is more important than what we feed our dogs? 😁

Think it is probably because someone asks the question here about every third month. The few regular posters have answered it often before; there are a lot of people who 'lurk & read' but don't post, at the moment. I do not answer it because what I could tell the people in the American majority is meaningless, since I use a brand of kibble only available over here in the UK. There was a thred on Raw Feeding as an option, about one month ago; that got quite a lot of responses. Go back a couple of pages in the Main Forum history, you should be able to find that and read it for yourself.

Over the years it is interesting to note how the feeding habits of posters have changed. Nothing it seems, stays the same.

Old Shatterhand's dogs have it real good! It is funny how different dogs have different tastes, too. I still give bone-in raw chicken to Beau, sporadically, skin and all. Mojo really just wants the skin and will eat the flesh if it is warmed a bit and then that has to be hand fed. He'll then take the bone and give it a good crunch or two and drop it, and walk away. What a connoisseur! LOL Then Beau swoops in and cleans it all up. They get table scraps too. Just not from the table!

A corn free, good quality kibble is also included in their diet. But I have to be careful with the amounts. While I put food in each dog's bowl every morning, usually, only Beau wants to eat then. So, he often will clean out both bowls. Mojo makes it known he needs to be fed by late afternoon, evening. I always add a can of dog food, split between to two, to the kibble. The moisture is important to their digestion. Mojo is 12 years old now, and still is active and moving great. So, if I consider the results, I would say he's getting a good diet. Oh, of course he gets gluocosamine dog treats for hip health. Those are expensive... like filet mignon, lol, but I really think they help. Why some brands are only sold in such tiny bags really gets me. Dose is: 1 per 15 lbs of dog? Really! 5/6 per day? So he doesn't get them all the time, but I try!
