well there you have it, todays IPO trainers dont want a dog like Gildo, and therefore todays IPO dog is different than those IPO dogs, and if some KNPV lines are bred from those type of IPO dogs , you just cannot say it has IPO dogs behind it

the only thing some of todays dogs have in common with them is the breed and the title, and since you need a title to be able to breed in Germany that doesnot mean much today because every dog that gets run of the field on Friday before the big show is an IPO3

My point is that the biddable dog that is as hard as Gildo, is the better dog.
And if you should ever get the chance to talk to my father who handled him, he'll tell you the very same thing.

With that, have a good day, I don't have time to keep wasting it on this topic.

It's comical that the people commenting on what "today's IPO trainers want" aren't even IPO trainers themselves and haven't been for decades. Not sure how they know what today's IPO trainers want when they're not even one themselves.

Bav, I bet  I trained and titled more dogs than you in the last decade, but keep shootingWink Smile

Every example provided so far is German within a few generations. Inox is prime example.

There are no old Dutch gsd lines, there are no old gsd knpv lines.

Spin it all you want the pedigrees prove you wrong..

Gustav your facts are totally irrelevant to what is being debated.

I'm sure you have, not out of the question to not only title all those dogs but also provide all of the United States with the K9s they need. You're just so amazing I know you can do it all.

Whats crazy is that people on here believe their crap.

No one is denying that most Showlines are not what they are supposed to be. No one is denying that there are dogs passing that shouldn't pass. No one is denying that IPO has become a sport.

However, IPO itself is NOT the issue. It's people that are the issue. It's the judge that is the issue. One Judge to rule them all and show me a single judge that can be entirely objective at all times.

That doesn't mean that there aren't anymore good dogs out there. I've actually seen some seriously nice dogs out there. Now whether they produce or not I don't know. I can't say because I don't know the puppies.

However, so long a breeder produces actual SAR dogs, Police dogs, Service dogs, and Sport dogs you can't tell me that the breed is dead.

We've got issues. And we've got breeders that breed into a corner. But we've also got seriously nice dogs out there that hold true to what the GSD is supposed to be.

There are knpv gsd not bred within a few generations from IPO stud dogs where??

I wouldn't be bragging about the hundreds of dogs I trained if you owned them for a total of 2 minutes each.

@ Duke yes Heukske have titled the most GSD in KPV you can say they have their own line
but most people on this forum have never seen any Heukske dog in real live .

I only can concluse some dogs ar bloodlines fit better in IPO some do better in KNPV, so that is how handlers and breeders will select to get the best potential out of the dogs..

@ Baer about the females it is impossible to have information about all GSD in KNPV  because there are around more than 200 clubs in KNPV in Holland, social media will help a while.. Over the last 5 years I  only have  seen  2 very good GSD females in the KNPV, most handlers don,t try females today ( you can see that on that list I post) for any reason.I hope they will return. The  KNPV magazin  publicate all the trials.
