Hi I'm trying to deal with a German breeder and he says he wants a 2.2 deposit. But I have no idea what a 2.2 deposit is. Can anyone please tell me what a 2.2 deposit on a $2000 puppy is?

I think you need to ask him what he means. Perhaps he means the date?

Of course I've asked him what it means but seeing as I'm still waiting for a reply I thought I'd see if anyone on here might know what it meant

Well, if its for a Deposit : Two per cent (plus a little more) of the $2000 ? i.e. $440 ?

(If somebody asked me for £250 deposit on a £2,000 purchase, I'd not be surprised by that figure.)

Is say it's for deposit which imo is very reasonable.

If it's for a deposit then that's only $44 so I doubt the 2.2 is a % . Best wait for a reply.

Well, 'MIKE', I thought that too when I first did the math, so I gambled on the breeder working it out wrong ! (i.e.Too little didn't really make sense). Sad Smile The question remains as to why the breeder didn't just say he wants x ['however much'] dollars out of the price ?

It's a strange one alright, I must say though any of them I have dealt with haven't been slow to advise price or deposit required. 😉

I have not had direct contact, but would agree with you from what I've heard of German / English negotiations over importing or charges for training; all usually very direct. Makes me wonder if the OP would have been better dealing with somebody else ?

Maybe ask again now much in $ is the deposit and if a straight answer is not forthcoming then go elsewhere.
