Q Man

by Q Man on 01 December 2020 - 09:12

I think anyone (Newbie or Oldie) can ask someone what they think might be the problem...PBD members are a good place to ask the odd question...
I always think that I was once a Newbie and didn't have the experience I do now (I certainly don't know it all now) but I know a lot more then I once did...I learned from asking people for their help and for their knowledge...
We've all been Newbies once upon a time and many have felt like no one would help...I certainly have felt that way many times...SSSSssssoooo I try my best to be considerate of people who are new to dogs or Working Dogs...
I think we should try to guide these Newbies...Lend them advice but explain that our advice is NO substitute for Trained Medical Help...
In the end we can offer help but let them know that we're in no way a Vet and they should consult with their Vet...
Please be a Representative for the Breed of our choice...We're all in this together and should help when we can...

MrDarcy:

THANKS...It means a lot...

So many times when giving advice I think no one listens to what you have to say...But...Then someone contacts you and says Thanks...It means the world...

I read this quote a while back.... seems to be applicable here.

“ Any fool can criticize, complain, and condemn—and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding”

If that shoe fits.... then just shut up !

Well said Blacksable!

Q Man, I know where you're coming from but I believe your comments, which are always informative, knowledgeable, helpful, and advice given will be used by many over the years. So again thank you for your contribution here over many years it is very much appreciated by a lot more than just me.

Absolutely !

One of the (many) problems here, though, Q Man, is that such people seeking out internet advice for these potentially serious situations almost certainly WILL take all internet advice EXCEPT to go to the veterinarian as they should have done to begin with. If they had a single hot clue they'd have been at the vet already and be following the doctor's advice to the letter.

Yes it's OK to be a newbie but it's not OK to be cavalier with the lives of animals; not only for those of which a given person is already responsible but ESPECIALLY those a person chooses to bring into this earth without doing seemingly a modicum of research or precaution.
