Looking for a good Malinois Book by troublelinx on 01 June 2012 - 06:41 |
| I am getting an adult malinois. This is my first Malinois. I am looking for a good book that focuses on working the dog from the prospective of a Malinois. Meaning that most of the books I have read are written from the perspective of trainng a GSD. Having been in the working world for a little while, I know that their are breed specific issues or tendicies with all breeds. Looking for a book that goes indebth in training as opposed to a book that touches on the surface of training (I hate that type of book). If anyone can ppoint me in the correct direction please do. |

| There is not a book out there where the training is applied to the breed specifics of a malinois. The Michael Ellis DVD's examples are mostly malinois. The Ivan Balabanov DVD's are all mals, if I'm not mistaken. So they would be your best resources. I got this great analogy from Rob Dunn at Triple Crown Dog Academy in Hutto, TX: Just think of the malinos as more of a border collie (that has been bred to do manwork) instead of a gsd. Good luck.
