If only I were home in Texas and not in Spain.... we had been hoping to add to the family in the next few months. My fiance works 12 hour shifts and would be unable to care for the puppy alone :(

Hate to be a cynic but I doubt this is a deployed service member's dog at all.  It really smacks of people trying to unload a puppy from their own breeding.

My thought too.  After I found out the puppy was only 15 weeks old, things did not add up as well.

If the puppy is 15 weeks, that means they got it 6 - 7 weeks prior.  They did not know about the possibility of deployment then?

Also, they got the dog "from a breeder" yet they have the puppy's dad?   It doesn't make since that an established breeder studs out their female, especially if they already have breeding pairs (shown on the breeder's website).   This could be possible if the stud was retired and this was his last litter (I think he is about 6 years old).  I thought males were generally not retired until later.

If anyone was interested, my recommendation would be to verify the breeding and that the claimed Bitch and Stud are correct.  The lines looked appealing.  This could be a find or a disaster.  It is a matter if someone is willing to do some due diligence, take a chance, and still be ok if the dog is not perfect.

You said the owner had dog priced to keep riff raff out? LOL  I know people who have spent thousands on a puppy, and were horrible owners, more $$ than sense type of thing. I know people who are on fixed incomes that are wonderful owners. I don't think the price tag on a dog determines the quality of home it will get..

I would bet the ranch the person who bred the dog put the ad on CL... Probably unsold pup from litter...
