We have all the paperwork and Nina is now ours.  We spent some time with her today, and enjoyed playing her.  She doesn't have a tattoo.  I will post pictures later.

I was able to talk to the vet where Nina has been treated since she was 6 weeks old.  She was born on 7/28/2009, spayed in 2/2010.  And has been very well cared for until now.  The vet assistant was shocked to find out where Nina was and how I got her, turns out it was a nasty divorce.  The wife took the husband's dogs to the pound to get even with him.  I am going to try to contact him and let him know that she is ok and in a good home.  AC said she was one of the most well mannered dogs they have ever seen.  We pick her up from the vet in the am.

If you get ahold of the former owner could you ask him what her pedigree is? Im so curious!

That is what the Animal Control officer said.  She was mad at him and brought his two dogs to the pound.  The other was a female boxer pup, and she was adopted to a good home also.  The vet assistant was so shocked and said that Nina was boarded there with them alot, she couldn't believe that she ever ended up at the pound.  I am trying to find a way to contact the man that owned her, I have his name, but can't find a phone number for him.

It would be a nice gesture to offer her back to him. He is probably heartbroken. Wonder why he didn't go and get them out, unless he didn't know where they were. What a BITCH ! No, that's too nice....what a scumbag!!!

Come to think of it, if animal control knew that she took husbands dogs and dumped them at the pound to "get even with him" because she is mad at him, isn't that stealing? And so isn't animal control as guilty for taking his dogs without his permission and selling them to strangers the same as selling stolen property?

SO wrong, on SO many levels. I hope the sow gets what coming to her. One thing for sure, the former is WAY better off without that woman.

From what I was told today, by a friend of theirs (his) at their vet's office, he is broken hearted, but can't take care of her now.  I have given the vet friend my contact info to pass along to him.  From my understanding, he travels ALOT for work and she would be boarded 3 weeks or more out of the month. So I am waiting to see if he calls, and what he says.  Right now she is happilly chewing a bone at my feet, and was given a clean bill of health by the vet.

Maybe he can visit her and you keep her.
