He wil perduce we'll with every litter as long as the new owner understands what type of female to put him to . I hope with the money spent on him which I don't know but would imagine is big the new owner will not just Rush too get back what he spent . That's what will destroy everything .

apple
I do think KNPV is a more challenging sport than IPO and is designed to help select dogs for police work much more than IPO. Many dogs in IPO could not obtain KNPV titles.

challenging in which way?
more effort to prepare the dog to pass through those challenges?
but does that really makes the dog better and more suitable for challenges beyond the sport field?
i already mentioned - i don't care about dog's title or fames in pedigree. i wanna see the dog to make my own opinion, regardless that dog was trained/titled or simply grown in someone's backyard.
you cannot  through even most intensive training do dog better, than that dog have been born to be.
i guess you're aware - in KNPV the failures aren't less than in IPO, albeit hypothetically only strong specimens should get entry pass into that discipline.

that I would normally breed with a higher drive dog

what do you mean behind "high drive" and what practical value you expect to earn from that?

Bladeedge - the new handler of Pepper, Gary Hanrahan, has oodles of experience and top achievements in schutzhund - he is a long-time competitor. If anyone can get the dog [good] breedings to increase his genetic contribution in America, it is him.

Joan - I did not know that you bought Ripper. I think his sire Quanto is gorgeous and one of my faves.

by joanro on 04 January 2019 - 00:01

Yes, Janet. Ripper is one of a kind. I wish I had been able to get him as a puppy...these three pups by him are litterally the best I've had. And that's saying alot.

He and Winona ( Winnie) really clicked.

Valk a higher drive female would be a dog that is Ball food and prey mad .
Which I like in my females because my 2 stud males are very different .
Food drive is low that I would have to hold back food for obidence. They would have to be really hungry to work . Ball drive is low not interesting to look at at all nothing fancy about them in obidence. But when you ask them to bite we'll then stand back very high aggression .
As they got older the possessiveness became very strong not easy to handle now too breed a female of the same type is not going to work. That's where the higher drive come in. Better food drive Ball drive prey drive in most of the pups make it more desirable and a lot easier too train in any excise . you will also get that hardness that can be missing in most sporty dogs. This makes the pups suitable for police pp and good sport and alot easier to fit a family as will have alot more balance in drive . I hope that makes sense . It's just my experience .I have a pup now that I breed this way and is remarkable how Ballanced he is and how strong his nerve is. By the way I'm not a breeder my kennel is my hobbie
