I was recently informed in a discussion that many dogs with " border patrol " bloodlines tend to show more active aggression than reactive aggression. In the days gone by any unauthorized in the border zone was an automatic threat and was an candidate for a " take down " , which the dogs were bred to seek out. Defensive type of aggression relied more on the physical manifestation of a threat, and is more seen in the modern type working dog.
Any one heard of this before, and can point out individual dogs or bloodlines that tend to produce either?

Thank you guys and ladies for responding.

I only hear of such things on the internet spoken by newbs to other newbs and the occasional guy trying to sell them a dog.

Ask for video evidence.....lol.

I think when they say more active aggression, they really mean bad nerves ;)

So active aggression does not exist?

by vk4gsd on 26 July 2015 - 20:07

No it means blanket statements about whole lines based on historical/cultural/sociopolitical events in the past are stupid.
