You have to give the shot to abort the litter within 72 hours. It prolongs the heat cycle, literally starting it all over again. This hormone injection is very dangerous and has been linked with Pyometria, a life-threatening infection of the uterus. Many females must be spayed as a result of pyometria (the alternative is a different hormane therapy which can also be very dangerous), and it is a dangerous surgery as the female is already compromised with a serious infection. If it were my girl, I'd let her have the pups. At least they are GSDs. I'd place them in pet homes if this was not a breeding I wanted to do. Who knows? you may get lucky and she won't take.
