Can anyone tell me what color this bitch would be considered? - Page 1

She is out of a patterned light sable dam and a black and red sire.
I know tri- colored isn't a acceptable term but she certainly holds several colors and the reverse mask which her dam also had.
I can't figure out how to post a picture
But she has a black saddle silver around her saddle and rear quarters , dark red on head and outer legs and cream on insides of legs and chest.

Let's try, even though we can't see a picture.

If one parent is a sable (of any degree of pigment depth) and one parent is a 'black & tan', puppies can be one or the other. You only stand a chance of getting a sable where you have one parent to donate the genes. That does not mean some, or indeed most, of the pups in such a litter won't be black & tans.

Sables are normally fairly obvious at birth, and remain so - so if the breeder of your dog sold her as black & tan, that is very likely what she is (although the inexperienced have been known to make errors!).  Black & tan puppies all start off pretty dark, even if the pigment lightens considerably as they grow. But 'black & tan' can cover a wide variety of shades and patterns and pigment depths in adulthood.

It sounds to me from your description, OP, as if she should be described as basically a Black & Gold  (gold being a popular and slightly better description for a lighter shade of 'tan'), saddle-patterned animal.  There can then be a pretty wide range of colours in the coat, despite the cookie-cutter black & reds you see in the German show videos ! You don't say how old she is, but it is not uncommon, particularly in females, to develop a lot of silver on the back as they mature, known as the 'bitch stripe'. That does not mean the reddish-gold on the head is in any way 'out of synch';  and the undercoat and the creamier hairs on legs and belly are supposed  to be 'grey', but that bit of the Standard was actually written  with grey (sable) dogs in mind 100 years ago, when they were in a majority, and cream is a much more relevant description these days for the black & tan dogs.
