HUGE relief to hear the vet said there was no spillage. Kudos for noticing right away.

I was so relieved when the vet reported that she was able to remove Willow's uterus without any spillage. I am glad I caught it early, but bummed it happened. I knew the risk I was taking when I chose not to have her spayed when she was younger, not sorry I waited, but very glad it all ended well.

Of course you're not sorry- why should you be? You did everything you thought was best and will continue to do so. She kept her ovaries longer, and hopefully will reap the benefits of that for many years to come. You just proved that you're exactly the kind of conscientious owner who CAN manage an intact animal responsibly. Nothing to be sorry for.

I waited quite a while to get my girl Sasha spayed. I kept hearing how younger dogs (and cats) often had problems when spayed at a young age. Everything from stunting their growth, to cancer and even death. I just had Sasha spayed a week ago and worried the whole day. I'm still kinda worried about her possibly getting cancer as no matter the age it seem to be a problem.

Lol, Lunastar, I know what you mean about worrying all day. I was a nervous wreck the whole day Willow had her operation.

As for worrying about them developing cancer, like Jenni said, we do what we think (and hope!) is the best for our dogs. There is nothing more we can do. Just enjoy every day we have with them and cherish the memories they leave us.
