Hodie, IMHO, knew her shit. Bw, I see it all the time, it is easy for a good communicator to know more than they actually know. And forum rats eat it up.

In 2012 or 2013 we had a big forest fire start in Black Forest, and I drove by a few of the dog people's properties on my way to help my friend evacuate her home.

At that time, I went by Hodie's place, it was vacant of animals and she wasn't receptive to any visitors, when I mentioned that a few people from PDB were worried about her, she did an about face and went back into her house while saying something about not wanting anything to do with any of those people...  something to that effect....

I think the dog business she had was foreclosed on.. there was a pretty bad stretch of hard times here in Colorado before they made pot legal. Now everything is so expensive here that I can't even pay my own property taxes!

I don't know how you would get in touch with her, or if she even lives in the Colorado Springs area anymore..

Sorry....

Don't believe Sunsilver meant Hodie was "internet royalty"
as described by Bavarian Wagon there.
Sure, they exist - but please, don't cloud the issue.
Hodie was (maybe still is ?) someone 'known' and respected
in the breed, out there in the 3 dimensional real world.

My contention is that people who have those kudos, it should
not make them any more - or less - critisizeable, than anyone
else. May entitle them to respect, from anyone who happens
to know who they are, behind their net username(s). But they/we
cannot EXPECT that from posters who in all fairness have no
way of knowing who they are. BUT THEY DON'T DESERVE
to be harassed or insulted online, any more than any 'non-royal'
participants do !

And at the same time, nor should they be assumed to have some

'immunity' from it - they are in the same 'boat' as everyone else,

when it comes to being targetted by some troll who actually just

wants to be obnoxious !

Pretty interesting how personal some people take the things that happen over the internet and on anonymous forums. I don't really care how negative of a discussion I might have with someone on the computer, I'd still be pretty interested in meeting them in person. I'm really understanding of the fact that the internet and anonymity allows people to be much more straight forward and truthful than they otherwise would be. You get very extreme, but also very true, opinions on the internet. Many times, much more true than anything you'd get in person.

With you there, BW, as a personal reaction. For instance,
I always find it far more difficult to deal with when someone
lumps me in with a bunch of posters they consider almost
fraudulent for giving opinions or advice; just because my
dog-related history is a different one, than e.g. working a succession
of dogs in hundsport or breeding umpteen litters, doesn't make
it less long or less valid. In fact i'll probably have more per capita
experience than many of the people they do think are 'experienced'
enough to be informative/useful to them. Someone calling me a
moronic bitch or something does not really irritate me 1/2 so much !

But we are all different individuals: what sometimes deeply affects
us is variable. I had visions of some poor souls of 'newbies' being
put off by the thought of posting on a site where it sounded like they
might have to tread oh-so-carefully around some established members
who get thought of as 'royalty'. Even if they didn't have a clue who
those people are ! That's why I queried SS's wording of her first post
on this thred; while we should all have to post with respect and "mind
our p's & q's", no way would some wish to risk joining any group where
there were First & Second class citizens, would they ?

As to Hodie, as I said, it was before my time, but from what I have
picked up over these last 5 years or so, what was done/said to her
was truly obnoxious, so I'm not taking anything away from the condem-
nation of that.

In all, it's sounding Hodie just disappeared, and, like, I'll no longer get to reach her. It's a pity, and it pains me she's gone, just like the wind. Anyway, if anyone at any time gets in contact with her, they can reach me by email: gladstoneenis @gmail.com. I appreciate all.

There's too much hero worship that isn't based on any real accomplishment...in the real world and also online. The internet allows the people in the middle to gain a little glory that they can't have in real life. All of us like attention, like seeing others think we know something...and the anonymity allows people to have that without actually having real accomplishments or having to prove their results. There is also a broad range of experience that is usually on a forum, but 99% of people when it comes to a GSD or a working dog forum...have never worked a dog or trained it to do anything past sit and down which allows for those that have been involved, have a bit of knowledge, to seem much more successful and knowledgeable than they really are. The groupies then tend to drive away newer people to the forum, but more experienced people in real life because they stick to what they know and there is no possible way anyone knows better than their heroes on the forum, and so those people stay the most knowledgeable on the forum and unfortunately many times preventing new ideas from spreading and at times giving wrong advice/information.

Things can't always be "because I said so" or "because this person said so." It's just not right. No one should just lay down and accept information BECAUSE of who it is coming from. There need to be legitimate reasons behind information.

Yes, Royal Hootie and her blowfish
If I recall, she left when she got called out on not practicing what she preached, by Wendy....
She was very judgemental and rude......imagine this...no breeding without titles while you have your very own litter, from untitled female...
A little embarrassing I guess.
You also must wonder where all the first hand knowledge of the ailments of the breed, and the treatments of comes from...experience..or books?

Hundmutter

Okay KitKat, but did whoever "Wendy" was disagree politely
and from a position of expertise herself, or did she just have
a rant at Hodie about it ?
