Anytime she wants lol, usually when the temp starts ti rise again. This is why you nap whenever possible.

Yes her vet is aware that she is getting ready to whelp. Last night my husband stayed up, and tonight is my turn. She rearranged her nest in her whelping box this morning and has been there since, so I'm keeping my eyes open for the plug.

by SitasMom on 17 August 2017 - 23:08

The "plug" would have already been gone, she most likely ate it when keeping herself clean.

Does she want to go and poop often, has she had any food today?

by Stellaminpin7 on 18 August 2017 - 00:08

She keeps wanting to go out to her "potty spot" but won't use the bathroom. She ate a tiny bit of breakfast this morning but no food since. Her due date is the 20. It seems like the puppies are still moving down because I can feel them moving that way. I'm very excited to see those pups!

Keep taking her out the exercise is good for her, just keep her on a leash and if it is dark take a flashlight with you.

Ever had labor  bet you felt like going too in the early stages. lol

Forgot keep track of the temp

by Stellaminpin7 on 18 August 2017 - 13:08

Morning! She still hasn't had them, and I'm a little worried about her because she hasn't ate for 2 days and I don't want her to weak when she gives birth. Anyway her due date isn't until 2 more days.

by SitasMom on 18 August 2017 - 14:08

What's her temp?

How exactly did you figure her due date?

If everything is okay she should have the pups today or tonight !
It's normal to not eat for 2 days, do not let her go outside alone
and keep her on a leash.
You must keep the puppies real warm the first 2 wks as they do not
produce their own heat. Get an old towel and as soon as they
are born clean them up and massage gently. I always put them up
to my ear when born to hear any gurgling sounds.
When they are born they are cold/warm and it's really important
to keep their body temp up for them to survive.
I would make this her only litter as your not experienced in
breeding or whelping litters.

by Stellaminpin7 on 19 August 2017 - 01:08

Her temp is 98 degrees. I figured out her due date 63 days from mating. Ok, I will keep them warm. I am going to let her have another litter next year, I have my friend who is a breeder coming tomorrow to help with the birth, she can give me some more tips on breeding and whelping.
