Duke the dog i spoke about is also very social to his owner.

And yet you can have the exact same thing just as a social dog that knows a threat from a neutral person.

But hey, that wouldn't be cool enough for ya'll.

" Duke there is a biological reason why women dont fully understand a : man's dog". No prob. "

Sometimes you make me laugh...You are not able to educate your own dog, you were afraid of a male that not even attacked you, but only "posed" .
For me it´s easier to understand ( and train ) dogs, no matter which kind, than to understand the inferiority complex of modern men - somewhere in their genetics there is the hidden knowledge they once had been hunters and fighters, but don´t have the skills to do so any more - so they try to become "important" through their dog or through their car...

Let me tell you: That´s not the case...intelligent women are neither impressed by barking dogs nor fast cars - because it doesn´t change the character of the looser in question.

"A guy outhere in Westchester have a soldi blk Czech ( old bloodlines..Cordon more than once in the 3 and 4th generations and some Mat Roz dogs as well ) male. Talk about a majestic and imposing presence is that dog. He can be let offleash indoors ( 3 e collars on ) , ..."

I call this abuse...animal control should take a look at the owner...that´s no fun

"The dog immediately suppresses everyone that enters his territory, but somehow the owner is able to maintain being in charge."

"Somehow" ? Really ? See above - " 3 e collars on "

What about education and training instead? THAT would be impressing...

I really hope this only is one of your stories.

Kind regards
Susie

For everybody else:

Out of my experience it´s difficult ( altough not impossible ) to find "real" civil dogs that are social at the same time.
Most often these dogs live in a pretty small world - it´s about the owner, in the best case about the rest of the family, too, but it´s not about neighbours and friends, not about the postman, and not about the child climbing the fence to get back its basketball.

Real civil dogs are a liability, they need a lot of education and training, way more than "normal" dogs.
They are able to "perform", they are even able to live in a house, but only in case they are more than well trained, supervised all the time, without any exception.

Civil, strong, low or medium threshold? Good luck in case you are no skilled trainer...

susie, you cannot be more wrong, this is a wrong opinion I see a lot, most dogs that are well balanced and have good civil agression are very social dogs

true, they come in different balances and the more extreme dogs need experienced handlers, that is all, responsible dog ownership.

many people also tell me dogs with civil agression are also at risk to have handleragression, bullshitstory, one has nothing to do with the other

are there extreme(unbalanced)civil dogs that will be a risk when not controlled, yes absolutely, but they are just one in a million so to speak

Duke, I have seen a lot of dogs in my life, maybe even more than you have seen -
and a lot of people mix up civility with dominance, or worse, nerviness.
As you well know a dog able to bite into the bite suit may not be "civil" at all, it´s training.
Maybe we only interpret this term ( civil ) different, I really don´t know.

I am only able to speak out of my own experience, I don´t have problems with these dogs, I really like them, owned them, but I almost never found a "civil" dog I´d 100% trust around strangers ( f.e. in my house, or the "kid" trying to get it´s ball ) -

You forget that you, and I guess the people surrounding you ( family or friends ), too, KNOW how to behave around dogs as a whole ( not only the civil ones ) - the humans ( including the kids ) are educated, they know how to behave around dogs - and you know what to take care of, desasters won´t happen - but that´s NOT the norm -

the current norm is a newcomer who knows nothing about working dogs, but wants to buy a "civil" dog.
