Yes. ... And why does a GSD (or any dog) Club need to start out proclaiming how 'secret' its arrangements should be kept ???

by Gertrude Besserwisser on 25 April 2019 - 16:04

Here is the letter sent by Dan Yee
Dear WDA Member,
Thank you very much for your support over the years.
I am pleased to announce that the WDA has settled its lawsuit with the GSDCA and that we will move forward as the German Shepherd Dog Working Dog Association (“WDA”). The details of the settlement will remain confidential by agreement of both organizations. We continue to provide hip, elbow, and spinal health evaluations through the SV ("a" stamps, etc.) for the German Shepherd Dog. We also will certify tattoos and microchips on pedigrees. Please contact Gretchen in the WDA office if you require any of these services. Gretchen can be reached by email at our new email address, gsdwda@gmail.com, or by telephone. Our telephone number (747-900-6805) and address (P.O. Box 5021, Woodland Hills, CA 91365) remain the
same as before. Our new website is gsdwda.org. We are excited about our future, and we are hopeful that you will be a part of that future. We are working hard to add more WDA services, including the ability to obtain Judges to officiate at SV-style events including trials, shows, and breed surveys. We now need your help. We have not collected membership dues and have not asked for any financial support since 2015. Notwithstanding, we deeply appreciate that some of you have voluntarily paid your dues to help with operational expenses and to help us survive a very difficult time in our organization’s history. We are now reorganizing and planning for the next stage of our club’s future. There are substantial costs associated with these efforts. Please join us by renewing your WDA membership. A single membership is $66. A family membership is $90. A junior membership is $28. Dues paid by April 30, 2019, will be considered a renewal, and your membership will continue uninterrupted from the date of your original membership. Dues received after April 30, 2019, will be treated as a new membership and will be subject to membership requirements that are in effect at that time. Once we finalize the organization’s structure for the hosting of SV-style events, we will reinstate the club-level memberships. The WDA has a strong and consistent history of supporting and promoting the German Shepherd Dog as envisioned by Captain Max von Stephanitz. We will continue to stand by the principles of (1) adhering to the international breed standard, and (2) promoting the proper breeding, training, and temperament testing of the total German Shepherd Dog. We look forward to
standing side by side with you as we move into the next chapter of our new and exciting journey. Thank you, again! We appreciate your support. I look forward to sharing more news on our reorganization and services soon!

This is going nowhere. Yee must be on Hopium, unless he has SV connections he has not totally burnt, which in any event will probably be of no use to him. The SV already recognizes the GSDCA, the official breed club in the US as well as UScA, How many more do you think they will recognize. What is this, anyone who sets up an organization can now get SV judges. Doubt it. Why would the SV allow its judges to go to an unaccredited organization.

The above letter is amazing, if true astounding. But how can it be true...unless Yee has a pack of aces up his shirt sleeve.

Anyone who is stupid enough to join and shell out dinaro to him would be better off lighting a pack of Camels with their money.

Well maybe he'll come back on here and explain himself - can't wait !

by akctrainer on 25 April 2019 - 18:04

Since there can only be two SV recognized clubs per country and USCA and the Gsdca are the two. Whatever this is going to be will be an " in house" organization with SV style, not SV sanctioned events.

They already have their group made up of the previous group and a few more. They will make their own judges, their own breed surveys, titles, etc. Maybe even their own registry. For them, sanctioned by them. They can get members, have clubs form and join. It's probably going to cater to the showline side of the breed since there is a vacuum that exists in this country now.

It's going to be the SV Style AKC format. You'll need the right handlers under the right judges, pay enough money and a goat can be the sieger. It's just money and it looks good on the website when you win.

Remember this organization failed through lack of participation when they were SV affiliated and was able to get SV judges.

Will anyone really spend money to be a part of it, or do people really learn that history repeats itself?

I do know that the new org has the backing of Lotar qualls (not sure of the spelling) and Yee and Althea have made trips to Germay to speak with Messler.

Rumor has it that the intent to for the SV to end its relationship with AKC/GSDCA and to put GSDWDA in its place. Messler has publicly written that the sport GSD has no place in the future of the GSD and that he wants the American style GSD separated from the GSD as they are not the same geno or pheno types...

Will be interesting to see how it all plays out

@Rik

I do attend the LE trials at least once a year, https://www.alecapolicek9.com/trials

These dogs are not very impressive, 80% of them are not dogs you would want to walk in a dark alley with and will get a LE officer hurt.

I really hope the LE K9 trials you attend have much better representation of "real dogs" ad these ones get chased with water from a hose, especially when the suspect is hiding in the shower and uses the water from the shower head to defend themselves...

Cutaway, can you give 'chapter and verse' - or a link ! - to that article, or whatever it was, by Herr Messler, that says the "sport GSD has no future", please ? Would love to read it. Thanks.

PS It's just "Quoll".

by Gustav on 26 April 2019 - 11:04

The LE trials I attend are nothing like what was represented in an above posts. 80% ???? Really? SMH!

@Hundmutter
I will try and see if I can find them again. They are pictures taken of the articles from the SV "news paper" that is distributed in Germany to SV members....

@Gustav -
I'm cool with you not believing me, totally understand that. I will see if I can find some of the videos that have been posted online from this or last year's event. What I really hope is that you share some also which completely disproves me. I would love it if our Desert Dog K9 trials are not a good representation of what is actually on the streets.... I will also try and find the local news Videos of a local (Surprise, az I think) police K9 that refused to engage. Officer was being criticized in the video for "trying to place the dog on the bite", not uncommon in KNPV foundation training.

Don't get me twisted, I have seen videos of really good & strong LE dogs in action, it's just my belief that they are the exception and not the norm.
