I had a GSD rescue with perianal fistulas, diagnosed at 2.5 years old. We managed it with cyclosporine during a flare up and Desitin and a pouf of Summer's Eve twice a day to help keep the area dry. I kept her back area shaved since she was a long hair and fed her a high protein soft diet. We never cured her, but she lived a mostly pain-free and normal life for 6+ years. She also developed Pannus at age 5. Eventually, her liver shut down and I had to euthanize her, all of which we believed was connected to auto-immune aspects of the disease.
I am sorry, Mindhunt, that you are going through all this. Hopefully, you and Quint can find a solution soon.
