I just removed a bunch of posts from everyone.

Can we now post according about the topic and leave the crap out.

Don't care who supposedly started it you do not have to respond to the comments, learn to ignore the one who made it.

If a person wants to be anonymous let it be, no guessing who they are, no alluding or giving hints.  They have the right to privacy.

Everyone here has the right to polite responses to their polite comments/ideas

Proceed  carefully on topic.

For Duke -

Duke said:

Koots, nice dog, looks to me that he isnot 100% sure what is expected of him there but will be nice dog to work with......

Here is the same dog at 3 yrs old, at a regular club after doing obedience  (first time at club).    I do not consider my dog  "just another sport dog" as per the topic, rather he is a companion/property guard who is being trained to do sport because we can and we have fun doing it.    I did not think of doing sport when I bought him, but a helper moved into my area when he was around 18 months old, so I figured " what the heck".    This dog's primary role is to protect the property and myself from wild animals, as we live in the mountains of a sparsely populated area in BC.   Now  my helper no longer lives in the area so we have to travel 4.5 hrs to attend this club, hence we were only there once last year - it will take us a long time to title (sigh).   Warning - long vid with obedience after first few minutes.

Beautiful, lush, long grass. Dog does a good job keeping nose down on such a track.

Beautiful hayfield makes for good 'tunnel tracking'.....the 'tunnel track' is visible way out in front of the dog til he gets to the right angle turn. He has a choice there; either plow through the thick grass off the trail created by track layer or follow the tunnel. Sort of cheating, in a way. Gsds prefer staying on the 'trail' and in this instance, the dog has a wall of grass on either side of him keepin him inside.

Joan, you couldn't be more wrong.

Here is my young dog in the video on page 1 in this thread. Did his first track two days ago. Pretty sure all the pros on here will consider this unconventional, but I expect it is being as I am self taught and never watched any tracking training anywhere.

Now, i did make a pad for the start, but same as two days ago, while i'm back to the house letting the track age half an hour, squirrel came in and stole the bait....saw one runnin off when i drove to the field with my dog.

After the first go on the track, I circle himback around and put him on the track for a second go-over....shows how he figured out the corner. In the above clip he was casting, till he hit the track again and made the corner.

Looks like we have a good ol' fashioned track off...please find all the issues with this track that make it "easier" than the track with food all over it. Much obliged...

Reasons for why my dog didn't do completely and utterly perfect will come after, I will include a "track count" and also everything that happened to that field over the past week that would make my dog not track it.

BW - is that belly-loop on the dog to slow him down?
