Vietnam all over again ... soldiers or dogs ... selling out those who worked the hardest and got the least for money and politics ...  the US military record of deceit and lies is unbroken.  The latest chapter in disposable dogs and soldiers should be interesting reading and maybe good for a television series??

What an utter shambles !
Surely it isn't beyond the wits of the agencies involved
to devise some process where the handlers can declare
a first interest in reuniting with 'their' dog, and stick to the
deal where they take up that option ??

by joanro on 15 February 2016 - 14:02

Hund, did you see the money these dogs are being resold for? The handlers sentiments are no contest to the money made reshuffling the dogs.

by beetree on 15 February 2016 - 16:02

Not exactly a timely article. All the instances used are two and four years old for such a current print date. Not going to waste my outrage at this time.

So if the military breaks federal law then it is OK if we ignore it??? Rape is epidemic in all branches of the US military and "military law" has done little to nothing to stop it. As usual the military claims security and stone walls those harmed ... delay, deny and hope they die. The myth of our heroic military and military law is dead. It is past time that the US military, industrial and Congressional Complex obeys the same laws as the rest of US citizens are subject to. The law says the K9 handlers have first rights to claim their dogs but the Marine Corp and the dog suppliers who have a corrupt relationship with the military decided to ignore the law. Just as in Vietnam the dogs are considered surplus equipment ( despite federal laws protecting them ) and are being killed or sold to the highest bidder ( which is usually rigged ) and the corrupt military thumbs it's nose at the law.

Oh yeah, I got it that its all about the $£$£$;
but making the process clearer might help give
the soldiers a bit more edge & time to get in, so
holding the financial scams at bay / make it more
obvious law is being broken ?  Sounds like they

hide behind the confusion.

[Hi Bee, welcome back.]

Well, you started the post with "the latest chapter", and really I don't think it is a current portrayal, at all. Any number of improvements to the system could have rectified the issue since these examples were brought to light. As a matter of fact, I think there have been quite a few good outcomes that I have read since 2014, that have dealt with the reuniting of MWDs and their handlers. Even one instance that allowed them both in a hospital to recoup with each other when they were both injured. No system is perfect, but we seemingly can and do our best when there is something concrete that needs to happen. Maybe if there was an instance that showed a 2016 abuse, from an article dated yesterday, then outrage could focus for a rally to get reunifications going. Without that? Well...maybe the NY Post just needed to sell some papers?

"Sounds like they hide behind the confusion."

More likely the 'confusion' is created to perpetrate the scam. As always, it's the dogs that 'pay'.

SSDD .. the same story in 2014 and 2015 ... the military organizations, congress and leadership of the military political complex does not care about soldiers or dogs until they get caught doing dirty deeds and the heat is applied.  The dogs may be heroic, the men and women soldiers may be heroic, but congress, the military organizations and the military leadership are self serving liars that view dogs, men and women as equipment to be used and disposed of regardless of service or sacrifice.  The military always lies .. it either never happened or if it did happen the problem has already been fixed.  The articles below show that dogs and handlers needed outside agencies to stop the greed, lies, and crimes perpetrated by the military.  How do you tell when a general is telling lies ????  when his lips start moving!!!

The dogs already lost - one handler after another over the years...
Now tell me - which handler "deserves" the dog?
The first one or the last one, or the one who asked at first?
I hope these dogs get good forever homes, no matter where.
