"You're kidding...$200 per call? What if it's a genuine alarm? What Smile Do they still have to pay?"

yes - I would not ever say this but it has been suggested that for commercial sites with deep pockets some false alarms may be programmed into the system - but hey urban myths abound.

He didn't enter the home.
I understand it is terrible to watch so you may not want to do so, so I will tell what happened.
There was an alarm call.
Sheriff's Office tried to contact the homeowner, with no luck. Our alarm system company contacts us first, if no answer, 911 dispatch does very quickly afterwards. If no response, police are on way. I would assume most brands follow a similar system.
Deputy arrives to her property, and tries to open gate to drive his patrol car through. He did attempt to manipulate gate to enter property in his vehicle, not on foot. Gate was locked.
Deputy climbed gate and approached home.
Dogs came running at deputy, one charged him and scooted away, the other was very close to touching him. He shot the one that was closest to biting him.
Owner came around the corner telling the officer to "shoot him all way" even after dog got up and was trotting around. Deputy verified that she did want him to shoot him again, and he the deputy discharged a shot to the head. I personally would have taken the dog to the vet, he was up and moving, very well could have not been a fatal injury.
The rest of the video(approx 11 minutes long total) is of them discussing the ordeal and him returning to his car, and calling his supervisor.

We have ADT at the house and the business, have not been charged for accidental or purposeful alarm trips. That is so scummy of an alarm system to charge for it!

"I answer alarm systems all the time, 99.9% are either technical faults or possums/cats....etc."

It always goes to what if they didn't go in, and she/he was being??? Thats not the norm in anywhere USA. Thats not even in the most likely. Its way down down the list with airplane crashes. Its factually a spec of a possibility. They know if its a chronic problem. Yeah 200 a pop for some asshat who draws resource away to answer false alarms time and time again is pretty fair.

What happens if he does not go in. Dog does not get shot, thats what happens. This is a very good post, getting in front of this and having a plan is a great idea. For me, I just stopped arming the alarm when I left if the dogs were free, false alarm problem solved.

My stereo is not worth my dogs life, if .01 where to actually occur and you somehow made it past the dogs...

Not going to watch the vid as the descriptions posted are enough for me to get the idea. VK brings up a great suggestion for people who have alarm systems and dogs that could be construed as a threat to a first-responder. Do not use the alarm system unless the dogs are safely contained in an area that first-responders do not have to access when responding to an alarm. Simple way to keep your dogs, and first-responders, safe.

costs fuel and time and you are at risk of ?? for doing a call out.

taking police off the beat to attend to endless strings of false alarms is way more expensive than $200 and it keeps police tied up while crime is occurring.

in fact burglars will trip alarms at multiple sites to tie police up while they rob another site, police can not be everywhere at once, resources cost money.

people can pay to get "free" call outs, the service will cost a lot more tho.

Thumbs Up  vk, Blitz, & Koots.

Don't use both systems together - go for dogs OR electronics, not both.
