term "sporty" isn't "misnomer/inaccurate" term. prevailing majority of present GSD so call "working lines" stock are sporty type, which is recognizable from hyped up temperamental activity, lack of brain/soberness of attitude toward surroundings, absence of selfdignity and proudness in those dogs.

maybe you should contact Old Guard kennel. it's run by Dani  in Romania, about same distance from Spain like Czech and Slovakia.
sport obviously not his goal in breeding. as i understand his activity is to preserve as much as possible an old DDR/East Europe type of practical GS dogs.
if you have facebook, perhaps you may get in touch over his page

I was in touch with Dani (Old Guard) around 3 years ago, regarding purchasing a pup from him.

He stated back then, that he no longer offers papers with any of his litters. That may not be a problem if you were not interested in breeding or competing.

That was the only reason that I never bought a pup from him.

He was very genuine in his correspondences and hopefully in the future, he will reconsider his policy.

Old Guard is a rookie program. Valk, you are stuck in the past and probably think Bozo the Clown is the epitome of entertainment. Modern, high drive dogs with balanced aggression are far superior to your nostalgic DDR dogs. The issue is that the majority of handlers/trainers overbuild the prey for sport performance at the expense of developing a good dog because, IGP in particular demands an overly prey driven dog for points. I agree that too many breeders breed exclusively for sport, but there are many good genetics out there that are shaped in the wrong direction due to training and ego. I have seen videos and how pedigrees of Dani’s dogs were put together and they suck. You can always tell by the crappy decoy/ helper work on the videos.

from his posts on FB it seems that there no reconsideration in regard of registration. but after all he obviously not a commercial breeder and looks like doing this just by motivation from his own memories about GS dogs of his youth.

modern not necessarily mean better. i do have experience of owning eastern GS in past and modern western GS in present and unlike phones or TVs i would pretty much prefer to have back that old eastern type of german shepher dog.
i had communication with nowadays breeders and to many of them i do have respect for their honesty, openness, dedication but at same time did become clear - they don't know/can't grasp an idea that german shepherd dogs can be way different and much more practical, than what they have grown with, know and breed today.

The ddrs have a different function that specifically needs them to be defensively driven, current ddrs are severely lacking in temperament and structure, personally i prefer dogs that are balanced in drives but that doesnt make that type superior to the the ddrs in anyway becuase they were bred for different functions.

I agree compeletly about your statements on sports dogs when one breeds fro sports that is what you get a Ferrari is not a daily car to drive around sure its nice to own they are a very fast car could go to the track but it is useless in daily life imagine taking the Ferrari to do some grocery shopping. You breed for sports that what you will get a dog only good for sports.
