Is it just me or has the meaning of these four letters gone to pot.  I know that Bully Breeders love their dogs and think that they are the best dogs in the world but if they want to compare their dogs to REAL American Pit Bull Dogs then why a new name? RE: "Bully Dogs"  Before I got my first pit it was reccomended to me to get the book The Book of the American Pit Bull Terrier.  This book no longer is in print and I personally think that sucks because if you want to know what real APBT look like that book has all of your old original bloodlines and pictures of those lines in it.  (i.e.-Crenshaw's Jeep, Bob Wallace dog, Carver's dogs, Boomerang...)  these to me are what I was taught were the cream of the crop and what this breed is supposed to look like.  I currently do not have a pit and that is mainly due in part to the fact that all I can find are "Bully Breeds".  If you were to mention the above names to any of the "Bully Breeders" they look at you as if you are crazy.

Another thing is now on some websites when you look at general descriptions of the American Pitbull Terrier they show the weights to be from 22-110 lbs.  Well, when I was introduced to the breed and would see a bulldog much over 65-70lbs. and made the comment it was a good looking dog...It was emphatically impressed upon me that any such dog was a cur and definitely was not a terrier.  To back that up again take a look at the above mentioned book or any literature published by Richard F, Stratton and you will have a hard time finding REAL pit dog that weighs much over 60-65 lbs.

Needless to say...It has been over five years since I have had an American Pit Bull Terrier or any dog for that matter.  My dog Bosco was a great grandson to the famous Champion Boomerang and was the best dog I have ever had!  To replace him with any of these Bully Breeds would be an insult to a true American Pit Bull fancier.  APBT used to mean something and it still does to me I just think the true definition of this breed is slowly going away with the times!

Please would some old school pit lovers let me know that I am not alone here and that I am not truly going crazy!
