The name of that kennel would head me in the other direction.  Wink Smile

each breed has it issues, some more then others.
bulldogs are at the top of the list for both ed and hd.
people wanting to purchase a specific breed should be aware of all the different health issues and then decide from there.

Looks like they haven't done an OFA or Penn Hip since Boyd's was still activly breeding about 3/4 generations back.

American Bulldog have better hips then english bulldogs. But only because some breeders are serious about the dog's they produce and strive to produce better.

This breeder is clearly not in that leauge of breeders. :P

I would want at least part of my money back, i think some loss for sheer foolishness is also in order.

There's a reason why i won't own a "Johnson dog"  Because most of those breeders are just taking your money, not breeding a better bulldog.

Best of luck with your puppy.

Taking a look at Sitas´statistic, the results of your dog are not uncommon at all... I wouldn´t buy a bulldog after studying this list.

I don´t know anything about the breeder in question ( and I don´t know anything about this breed ) but a replacement ( puppy ) is the normal procedure in this case - nothing uncommon. At least this breeder is willing to help...

Do not confuse the American Bulldog with the English Bulldog. Apples and watermelons there. Though it claims we are #16 by percentage of exams done of 1825 dogs examined. Compared to the German shepherd who had 107698 examined and was #40 on the list. And the english bulldog only had 564 dogs examined and they are #1.

Ok I do not know this "breeder" personally at all but buyers should do their homework before buying a puppy wether for pet/work or show

# 1 what type of contract did you have?

#2 How much back homework did you do on the dogs before you bought this pup? did you check for hip scores, cardiac testing ect... especailly with the pedigree behind those dogs without genetic health testing on Sire & Dan I would have never bought a pup

#3 Why would you purchase a pup on any type of contract pet or show that the breeder only has those 2 dog and the contract calls for only a replacement pup? becasue frankly you are right I would not want a replacement out of those dogs again. I also do the replacement pup if there is a genetic issue for a dogs lifetime BUT I will replace out of a breeding of the person choice off my yard I will breed 3x this year (1st breedings in 10 year I am not a BYB) different bitches then not again for at LEAST 3-4 years so if they need a relpacement it will be down the road and they are aware of that at the time of purchase.

I just took a look and no where on their facebook or in this site do I see that any health testing is done on these 2 dogs and as far as I see they only have those 2 dogs and one other but looks like a different breed

"I asked for my money back but was told I could have another puppy of the same sex and breed. Why would I want another puppy from the same person who sold me a genetically defective puppy?"

-there is no way of them knowing at the age of I'm gonna guess 8-12 weeks when you got your pup that is had a genetic disorder

"He was diagnosed with Bilateral Hip AND Elbow Dysplasia at 7 months old"

-what made you do the testing at this young age? did you do PH or OFA and what did the test actually come back as?
