Lol you're right mrdarcy. Totally agree. I stopped reading those leaflets years ago when one said I might grow facial hair and get a deepened voice lol . No , I wasn't taking male hormones but I might as well have been lol . Nothing is without risk or side effects. I suppose we take a risk every day when we step outside the front door.

Yep, we really do ! Glad you haven't had any problems following the injection; neither have I. Nor have one or two recently-jabbed others I have spoken to since. And its worth saying that a couple of days have gone by since the blood clot thing raised its head, and docs here are saying there is definitely no connection to the vaccinations, Norway etc were over-reacting.

In the U.S. flu is way down this year. don't want to look it up but think the largest % decrease in many years. Probably the masks and social distancing as well as not as much gathering.

when my son was in school, I had a minimum 2 sinus infections/year. none since he is out.

also, he, his girlfriend, her mother and guy he rides to work with all had covid. I didn't get it even tho he lives with me. It's really some crazy stuff.

Maybe one day if the scientists have more time they'll find some genetic 'key' to a predisposition to being vulnerable to this ( & possibly other ) bugs which will explain why some of us are more likely to 'catch' them than others ?

I got the Pfizer vaccine last Friday and other then some localized pain at the injection site, two Tylenols took care of that, nothing at all.
I am certain there is a genetic component to who gets it and how bad as well as recovery. I have believed that since the beginning when some people were dying and others hardly had any symptoms.
My next one is April 16 and I am looking forward to it. This morning I read on the news that the first injection offers 80% protection and the second one will bring that up to 95%, I am happy with that.

What I am not happy with are the people going around who develop conspiracy theories daily...my barber told me that he does not want his wife to get it because it alters your DNA permanently and causes infertility too...
Another gentleman sitting there claimed that he read on the news that a man in France suffered testicular and penile shrinkage...from the injection....I give up...

My son had some nasal congestion a few days before he got tested and only got tested because the guy he rode to work with tested positive, We have very close contact and I thought I was a goner, as I would be considered in risk group.

A lady I graduated school with caught it at a basketball game (several other locals did) she had a very prolonged months long stay in the hospital and died a pretty horrible death. a couple of the others also had bad cases and hospitalized. one was bleeding from ears.

One sister and my 93 yo Dad have had Moderna and no issues. Other sister has had first round of Pfizer and no issues so far.

I'm going to get it, but I'm hoping to get J&J. I really don't have any logical reason for this, but then neither can I come up with any logical reason I once thought S/L were real GSD. It's just who I am.

HD, the guy in France made me LOL remembering the Seinfeld episode where George blamed the shrinkage on cold pool water.

Lol @ the shrinkage. I bet there would be a mad rush for the vaccine if it was rumoured to 'increase' lol.
I have a 81 year old neighbour who was in hospital for less than a week and is fully recovered. Another 49 year old neighbour recovered at home with mild covid symptoms. After appearing to be fully recovered, her husband came home one day to find her dead on the floor ! Post mortem showed she died from a blood clot on her lungs caused by covid ! I do hope at some point the scientists can find the reasons there is such varying degrees of severity. It won't help the poor souls who have already passed, but it would be good to know.

Hired Dog

by Hired Dog on 30 March 2021 - 14:03

Rik, a logical reason would be the example you gave here my friend of a person who died a horrible death...that would be enough. No one knows why some people do and some dont, but, if I can mitigate that risk, I am all for it.
I was given a choice when I registered and I chose the Pfizer one because of its high protection %.

Brady, I think it will be a while before anyone discovers or understands why some people suffer with this and others dont, but, why chance it if you dont have to?
I am hoping that the vaccine provides chronic immunity to the virus and not have to repeat it yearly like the flu shot.

HD it's great that you already have a date for your second dose. I had my first dose on the 18th March and was told I'd be contacted in 12 weeks for my second dose. I believe it's the same in all nations of the UK . There's talk here that we probably will need a 'booster' in Winter. Much like we have with the flu vaccine.
