Sunsilver

Four days after managing to get hit by a car, and spending a night in the E.R. with a partially collapsed lung, and bleeding from her liver, Eska successfully completed her BH!!

This dog is one tough cookie!

They let me bring her home on Wednesday morning, as she was doing well. By Wednesday evening, she was jumping a foot in the air while waiting for her supper!

She was rechecked by the vet on Thursday, and he said her chest now sounded fine, and she did not show any pain when he palpated her ribs and abdomen. I told him we were supposed to trial on the weekend, and when I explained what was involved, he said, "I don't see any reason why she can't do it."

Of course, I also used my own judgement in deciding, as the owner knows the dog best. When I saw her bouncing around and begging Star to play with her, I knew she was feeling good, and a 12 minute obedience routine was not going to cause her any distress.

I did thinkof waiting for the next trial in 2 week's time, but when I found out I couldn't get my entry fee back, I decided what the heck, it's good practice for her even if she doesn't pass...

But pass she did!!  Teeth Smile  She even did well in the traffic steady portion!

Onward and upward!

WELL DONE SUNNY, and especially Eska ! Good news, and wonderful in the circumstances. She is obviously cut from the same almost indestructible cloth as my Taz was ! (Don't know if you remember but a couple of years before he died, Taz managed to cross in front of a car and get carried 40 yards up the street, yet walked away with hardly a scratch - unlike the front of the car.)

LOL! Yeah, Eska did do some damage to the front of the car! There were some bits of plastic lying in the road, but I was so concerned about my girl, I never even went around to the front to see the full extent of the damage. The owner asked me for my contact info, but still hasn't contacted me, so maybe the damage wasn't all THAT bad.

Either that, or they haven't had time to get an estimate yet...

It was definitely one of the worst moments of my life seeing her lying on the road in front of the car, and thinking at first that she was dead, or probably going to die. Cry Smile

It's always a very sad note to hear any dog getting hit but they can sometimes respond so well...CONGRATS to both of you for achieving your "BH"...
