VK4 would know where to go for sure...

I tend to agree with Swarn - "experience" doesn't really matter but the will, and, more important, the instinctive ( yes, some humans still do have instincts ) ability to educate and, more important, "lead" a dog (animal).

OP, try to find one , or in the best case two or three clubs ( or training groups ), watch the dogs, hang around for some time-afterwards try to get a puppy out of the kind of dogs you like.

But don't forget to watch the litter itself - there will be more active ones, more suspicious ones, more laid back ones, in every litter. A good breeder will help you, but at the end it's about you ( education, socialisation, training ).

Good luck! For me the GSD is the most interesting breed of all dog breeds, and at one point all of us had no clue...

Swarm, you are expected to know how to drive.

BTW I was answering YOUR questions, not Bobby's ...

Susie: VK4 would know where to go for sure...

Go for what? He has one gsd in his life. He breeds and sells hounds for cat extermination.
I've seen his posts about his dog since he got it when it was a puppy, and all he ever did was denegrate it, comparing it to the hounds, how stupid the gsd is by comparison.
He went to two different sch training clubs, kicked off the field and banned by both clubs because his dog was completely out of control. So, tell us again where he would know to go. Not gsd breeders in Aust. because he says all they do is crank out junk like his gsd.
