While positioning is HORRIBLE (dog is crooked), these were sent to SV and rated a1 at almost 13 months of age.

Note: this photo was taken using my camera phone, hence the blurry picture and bad lighting.,. Actual xray quality was good

I understand not breeding for only one trait but it seems many times it has been shown that breeding dogs from parents and siblings with very healthy hips significantly lowers the probability of HD incidence. Now for breeders, you can cherry pick the healthier workable dogs, sometimes even buy a dog back that turns out to be healthier than the dog they kept back for themselves.
. The guy that used his savings to get a dog for sport and ends up with a severely dysplastic pup does not have that luxury. So when people say they prefer to breed less healthy dogs with the right temperament I'm perplexed.
. There are many dogs with good to excellent hips that have the right temperament, so why experiment with these borderline dysplastic dogs. And also for those selling puppies abroad, do you really think the price of a new puppy is enough in case a pup is dysplastic? What about the shipping costs for a dog that can probably never get an IPO title or that may even have to be euthanized or the cost of HD treatments which are recurrent and expensive.
I understand its still a gamble but I think genetic diseases like these should be given priority especially with evidence to support breeding healthier individuals. Just my humble opinion.

Too many gullible newbs wanting a GSD every year, breeders don't have to care.
